I wish this week would be over already! It’s only Tuesday and I feel like it’s been 10 days since I got a break! Really feel like going away somewhere!
I’m not too excited about this product. I sure was when I bought it. It was early days when I started using makeup and I wanted a bunch of neutral colours. I think this palette from Bourjois was also priced at Rs. 650 at the time. It’s gone up to Rs. 845 now.
Bourjois Smokey Eyes Trio in Lady Vert De Gris is a taupey brown shade. These are actually perfect colours for a smokey eye if you like taupes. But the eyeshadows, I’m not too fond of. These are the baked variety, one I’ve always had a problem with. Each shade performs differently, so I’ll go into detail on that.
Light – The light silver taupe shade is very very glittery. But it’s just awful. The glitter isn’t fine, it feels very gritty. It spreads everywhere and just makes a mess all over your face. As it usually is with baked eyeshadows, I tried using this wet and other than making it easier to apply, didn’t change much. Other than those 2-3 experimental times, I’ve never used this shade again.
Medium – Luckily, things got better. This middle shade is a proper brown taupe colour. It’s a good shade for all over the lid and it’s quite pigmented. Dry or wet this applies evenly on the lid and stays put. However, if I compare this to other eyeshadows, this breaks down more easily. While applying, there’s more fallout and powder bunching up at the edges than others. It doesn’t make this convenient to use on the go unfortunately.
Dark – The darker brown shade is also a favourite. Great crease colour and texture and quality wise is similar to the middle shade.
Overall, the pigmentation of these eyeshadows is good and it’s best used with a wet brush. The first shade doesn’t wear well but the other 2 last for atleast 5-6 hours. They apply smoothly and are easy to blend. But it’s such a hassle to use these right, doesn’t make it very worthwhile in the long run. I use the 2 darker shades from time to time just to use this up, but really, not a good purchase for me.
The packaging is nice. It’s tiny and easy to locate with the transparent lid. Also comes with a two sided sponge applicator that I’ve lost. You get 4.5g of product for Rs. 845. With the price increase, it’s just not worth it. There are tons of other drugstore nude palettes which perform better. I’m just so put off by Bourjois when it comes to eyeshadows.
