Caudalie Cleansing Water

I’m having a lovely cup of tea and the weather outside is just perfect. Sometimes all you want is a refreshing beverage, a nice candle and something to focus on. It’s been a productive Sunday so far! Anyway, today I’ll be reviewing a water based make up remover. Yes, one of those.

Before I start, I should mention that the packaging of this product might have changed. When I was looking for links to buy this I saw a different one. So the product might be the same but the packaging and labelling has changed.

Caudalie’s Cleansing Water is a very gentle makeup remover which can is also eye safe and removes makeup quite easily. What I like best about this is that it doesn’t leave any residue that oil based removers leave. Whenever I used oil based ones I always felt like I had to cleanse my face again even if I was just removing a tiny bit of makeup for correcting or circumstantial reasons. I hated that momentary oily and uncomfortable feeling.

The consistency of this is just like water. It has a faint grape like scent to it but it’s not bothersome. After removing makeup your skin is damp for while and then it just disappears, no residue at all.

As far as the make up removing power goes, this does fall short in comparison to oil based ones. It takes off waterproof mascara, matte staining lipsticks and all but it just requires more time and swipes. Normal concealer, powder, blush is removed quickly. With eye make up it’s best to apply this on cotton and keep it pressed for a few seconds so that it breaks down and comes off easily.

I generally use a makeup remover just to get the majority of the make up off; I use a cleanser afterwards anyway.

Overall, I feel like this works well but it’s not the best at what it does. You might opt to buy this because it doesn’t have any harmful ingredients and is good for sensitive eyes which are good benefits. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this one again. I still want to use water based removers for comfort but I will be trying the Bioderma one next.

You get this in different sizes like 30ml, 100ml, 200ml. This one is 100ml and cost me about 5 pounds because it was on sale. I think it’s regular price is 8 pounds which is roughly Rs. 750. The packaging is quite nice. The bottle has a smoked out effect and you have a screw on cap which doesn’t leak.

It’s alright, I really feel that the Bioderma one is better but it’s still early days to be sure of it… :)

i have tried the vichy version of micellar water and really liked it a lot..i agree these water based makeup removers do fall short on removing heavy eye makeup but i like them for face makeup a lot and plus they are very gentle on the skin :)

    • Xuvious

Yea, and since I use a cleanser later anyway, I can sort of forgive not being able to remove every little bit of makeup.

Would it break me out? Severe oily skin here.

    • Xuvious

Well, it doesn’t have things like parabens if you are sensitive to that, the ingredients seem quite alright. It suits all skin types though. :)
