Nothing really motivates me to wake up (early) on a Sunday. One of the exceptions in an India vs Pakistan match! Okay, it wasn’t quite the I’m-choking-my-pillow-to-death, down to the wire kind of match I was hoping for, but soooo happy we won! Overall, Valentine’s day and an India win made the weekend pretty great! That brings me to the downer that is Monday! Hopefully, writing about this lipstick will be enough to cheer me up to face the day!
After my success with Mademoiselle, I was more open to trying Chanel lipsticks. All it took was a few hours at Palladium Mall and I had my bag stuffed with Chanel goodies. At first glance I thought this colour might completely wash me out. But I was on a swatching rampage and when I finally tried Liberte, I thought it might just be warm enough to show up on me.
My god it is pretty! Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Liberte is a shiny, glossy sheer lipstick in a lovely peachy shade. It has a bit of shimmer throughout which translates as a slight gold sheen, although it isn’t gritty or too noticeable. Finally a peach lipstick that actually looks peach on me! Most of them turn pink on my lips. If you do love nude lipsticks but still want something different within the safe bubble, definitely try this out!
For a sheer lipstick, the formula is everything I expect. It’s buildable to medium and looks even on my lips. It doesn’t highlight any problem areas or settle into lines and in general makes the appearance much more smooth. It’s a bit balmy but not too slippery, I think it stays on better because of that. There’s also no heaviness or stickiness.
When applied to thirsty dry lips it instantly soothes and moisturises them. Don’t go replacing your favourite lip balm with this but if needed, it works just as well for a while. Overall, this stays on for around 3 hours on my lips. Of course it transfers a bit so you will have to reapply it after a meal. I’m fine with that since it isn’t a long wearing formula!
When it comes to packaging, it looks sleek and it’s smaller than your think. I wish it had the Rouge Allure packaging instead, it’s more unique and identifiable. You get 3g of product which is a bit less than usual for $34.
Overall, it’s the perfect combination of colour and formula that makes this one of my favourite lipsticks! It’s definitely one I’d repurchase if I used it up!
