Time to review the cutest lip balm on the block. Pretty sure at some point you might have come across these and your inner child went “squeeeeee”. Well, it did happen to me and I rightly purchased the EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet.
The pink chubby ball is attractive in itself but thankfully, it works incredibly well too. Inside you have a dome shaped lip balm which is off white in colour and smells like strawberries. If that isn’t enough for you, the formula is darn good as well.
I like to categorize lip balms in three types (from what I’ve tried so far) – you have the thin and extremely shiny/glossy ones like Carmex, the thicker but still shiny finish ones like your Nivea, The Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner and finally, you have a lip balm with a almost matte finish. Guess which one this this.
I was amazed when I saw the matte like finish because it’s something I’ve never really seen before. Having a shiny lip balm can make any lip product you put on it look very glossy. You can kind of avoid that with a lip balm like this. Of course, it won’t work for mattes but for other lipsticks which don’t have a very shiny/glossy finish, this will help maintain original the lipstick texture.
This feels rich on your lips but not heavy. This may not be good enough for me in some occasions when my lips are in really bad shade, I might go for something more repairing like the L’occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm then, but for everyday use this is perfect. It’s moisturising and comfortable on the lips. I also really like the strawberry scent, it’s lovely and it tastes a bit like it too.
In terms of lasting power, it lasts fairly well for 5-6 hours if you haven’t had much to eat or drink. When I use this at night, there’s a hint of it left on my lips in the morning.
I have the full ingredients list below but from the website, it mentions that the product is 95% organic, formulated with Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E and also free from Parabens, Gluten and Petrolatum.
The packaging is phenomenal. The dome shape makes it pretty easy to use. There is however, some measure of difficulty getting it precise as it becomes more flat. You also get a whooping 7g of product for $3.25 which is around Rs. 200. I know, amazing.
Overall, it’s the combination of price, packaging and quality that’s a winner here. It may not be directly available in India but there a quite a few ways to get your hands on it. You can buy it from eBay but there are a lot of EOS fakes in the market so make sure you buy from reputed sellers and only carded ones. Otherwise, if you don’t want to take a chance, you can always get it from BeautyBay.com where it is a bit overpriced at Rs. 500. I’m definitely getting the Blueberry one next! ^_^
