Hi everyone! I’m loving the moderate rains here, it’s not too humid and it’s certainly not too hot! Never change! The last couple of weeks have been busy work wise but I’ve been keeping myself entertained by rearranging my makeup. It’s so therapeutic. I also got rid of a bit of old makeup and I have a Back to Mac trip in the works. Which lipstick should I get?
Speaking of lipsticks, get settled for another review. This time it’s the well loved Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Intense Nude. I didn’t expect to like these so much when it was launched. I picked up Dominant, a bright fuchsia at an airport. Fell in love with the formula, decided I needed a nude colour as well.
Intense Nude shows up as a pinky brown nude, leaning more on the pink side. It’s muted and deep enough to not wash me out and looks very natural. I find Chanel Mademoiselle or Burberry Dusty Rose to be the most similar to this. Tom Ford Indian Rose is a bit more pink and glossy, while YSL Ultimate Beige and Cle de Peu 203 are noticeably more brown.
This is a creamy lipstick done right. It’s very pigmented and opaque in one swipe. It has the right amount of slip to be comfortable while applying but not budge too much thereafter. It’s actually moisturizing while being very lightweight on the lips. It’s not going to completely smooth over very problematic lips (cracks and all) but it doesn’t accentuate lines.
Not a product that will power through a meal but it’ll stay on if it’s just snacks or something light. I generally have to reapply after lunch. This stays on well for 5-6 hours without fading or slipping around too much. I also detect a slight nice vanilla scent which is pleasant, it’s a nice change from the overpowering fig scent used in their Pure Color range.
I love the packaging, the cap is magnetic and the lipstick has that weight which makes it feel more expensive. The blue and gold combination along with the tube shape in general looks very modern. The blue shade actually reminds of the BMW Imperial Blue colour, which I love.
Priced at $30 (for 3.5 g), it’s high end product but a bit cheaper than Chanel, YSL etc. You get the same quality in formula and packaging though. A complete win. In India, you can buy this at Sephora or Estee Lauder stores/counters.
Around a week after I got this, I dropped it, which led to the lipstick bullet snapping from the base. It’s in one piece just not attached to the base. Hence the messy pictures.
