Happy New Year you guys! When this post is published I’m probably going to be nursing a hangover, but I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve! Let me know what you did!
I’ve been reading so many end of the year posts and it’s all a bit emotional. My 2014 overall was great, some of my closest friends got married, I travelled to Goa, Jaipur, Japan and China, met up with a lot of friends scattered around the world. I lot of things went on like planning and designing the new house, career related stuff and a lot of great moments with my boyfriend and his family. When I put it all down on paper it seems really great and I’m very grateful and thankful for everything in my life, but I’m more excited for the new year. 2014 felt a bit stagnant to me and there was a lot of personal turmoil. 2015 will be a better year for me, I’m sure of it.
I started this blog in 2012 and went through phases of not updating it. 2013 was when I started blogging more regularly and I haven’t stopped since. I’ve had so many new readers this year and I’d like to thank all of you, old and new. This corner of the internet makes me happy and cheerful no matter what goes on in my life. I love reading your comments , banter and suggestions. Hope you all have a great 2015 ahead! ^_^
Okay, so that probably wasn’t what you expected when you read the title of this post. I thought I’d review a very sparkly lipstick for the New Year!
Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Violet Electra is one of the lipsticks I bought during my purple phase. It was massively discounted on StrawberryNet and the rest is history. The shade is a purple magenta with fuchsia and silver glitter. It’s just so pretty!!
I’m very conflicted about this lipstick. It think it looks great but doesn’t look great on me. I feel like I can’t really make it work with anything and it looks a bit dated. But I love the colour. Ugh, it’s too difficult!
Formula wise I’m not very impressed either. It’s sheer on first application but buildable in 3-4 layers which is a lot. The shimmer fine and non-gritty. Overall the lipstick feels comfortable and weightless. It also stays glossy and doesn’t settle into lines. I feel it does emphasize problem areas though.
Unfortunately the lasting power isn’t so great, barely 3-4 hours and it just vanishes if you eat/drink. The packaging is nice but with these older Estee Lauder products they look great but still feel cheap compared to other brands in the segment, they’re not weighty. It also has a very strong scent that I’m not too fond of. Of course, the new Sculpting range is very sleek and nice.
I thought this was limited edition but I’m wrong, you can still get this at Nordstrom or anywhere else. It costs $26 which is around Rs. 1700. I’m not sure of the actual price in India, might be slightly more.
