The one good thing about Illamasqua (besides making good quality products) is that their sales are always reliable. I’d say almost a year ago I hauled 2 lipsticks and 2 nail polishes during a sale because I really wanted to try something the brand. I call these one of my weak blogger moments.
Anyway, somehow I completely missed out on reviewing them but here’s one gorgeous lipstick from the lot.
Illamasqua Magnetism is a red berry or a deep raspberry shade. I also have a comparison below but it’s a berry tone that’s more red rather than purple. A really great fall color if you’re into seasonal stuff. I think it looks bold without going too vampy. On darker skintones it’ll look even better. I really do love the colour.
In terms of colour, (comparison below) Mac Rebel and it’s dupe Milani Sangria are darker and more purple. Urban Decay Venom is much more purple and Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie is also similar but on the lips it’s more pink and a bit lighter.
As far as the range of Illamasqua lipsticks go, the consistencies and finishes do vary. Magnetism is a creamy lipstick. It’s very smooth to touch and isn’t very heavy like Mac Amplified.
It’s very very pigmented and your get true colour in one swipe even with pigmented lips. It looks very even across the board and doesn’t settle into lines or feather. The finish is creamy with a bit of a sheen.
It’s very comfortable to wear but I wouldn’t call it the most lightweight lipstick that I’ve tried. It’s moisturizing and doesn’t dry out my lips.
I can wear it easily for 6-7 hours but it does transfer. It can survive a mild meal or snacks but you’d be better off wearing a lip liner underneath if you really want it to last longer. It also stains the lips but I don’t really mind that.
It doesn’t have any strong dominating scent but there is a bit of that typical factory lipstick kind of scent. The packaging is really nice in a sleek black case. I bullet form also makes it easier to apply at the corners.
I feel like it is better than an average lipstick but not the best from what I’ve tried so far (which is a lot). These are also pricey so I highly suggest getting them in a sale instead of buying them at full price.
