Klorane Shampoo with Nettle

I’m doing a hair related review after so long! I’m on a mission to get my hair back to the glory days. It was bouncy, thick and I needed to shampoo just once or twice a week. I want that back!

I first mentioned this product in last month’s favourites, time to do a full review. I’ve always had dry hair but I started developing an oily scalp a while back. That resulted in me shampooing more and it was a terrible cycle to break. I also have fine hair so any amount of grease flattens my hair and just looks terrible.

Before I decided to tackle the scalp, my immediate concern was reducing hair fall. I feel like that’s under control now and I really want to focus on balancing out my scalp and increasing the time between washes.

Klorane Shampoo with Nettle is meant for oily hair. It’s a relatively gentle shampoo with the main ingredient nettle which helps regulate oil.

It has a water like consistency (which took time to get used to) but still manages to lather up well though not as much as regular shampoos. It does contain SLES, but not SLS. It cleans well but doesn’t make my scalp dry, I find it to be very gentle in that respect. I also like the herb like scent and it has a cooling effect on the scalp when applied which I really like. I still use a clarifying shampoo once every two weeks though.

At first I didn’t really feel like it made a difference. I was still washing my hair every other day. A few weeks passed and my third day hair started getting less greasy. I could manage washes every 3 days. Win! Now I generally wash my hair 2-3 times a week. It’s more if I’m going out at night or need to look my best. I’m on my second bottle now and I’m happy with it so far.

They also have shampoos for other areas of concern like thinning, volume, strength etc. I might try the one for volume at some point in the future.

Klorane shampoos are surprisingly affordable, only £6 ~ Rs. 600. You can buy the range from FeelUnique or Escentual. For some reason this particular shampoo is only available on Escentual (and it always seems to be on sale). The best time to buy this is when they have their 1/3 off French Pharmacy brand deals.

Let me know what’s helped you if you’ve had oily scalp/hair fall problems!

Hey girl, so sorry to hear about your sudden hair problem! Shampooing more often kinda creates a vicious cycle tho. It’s probably better to find one that works for you and try not to over-shampoo! I have tried this one (a LONG time ago though), but I don’t remember liking it! I do like the nettle dry shampoo though. I alternate between shampoos for oily scalps and sensitive scalps, since mine is a bit of both. I like shampoos from Aesop and Phyto. Maybe look into those?

Yes, exactly. I’m actively trying to reduce how often I shampoo but I still have to maintain that balance of not having greasy hair. Thanks for the recommendations Sunny! xx

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer has helped with my hair-fall a great deal. Recently reviewed it on my blog too :)

You probably know already but the greatest tip that helped me was by a hair stylist, to really take 2 whole minutes massaging the scalp with fingertips (not scratching) with shampoo.

    Hope this helps!

Yes, mine told me the same. Also to just apply shampoo on the scalp and not concentrate on the lengths of hair since mine is dry. Will check out the review, thanks! xx

i feel like kloraine is primarily a haircare brand but i’ve not actually tried any of their hair products, which is a bit funny. i did really like their micellar water though and i don’t think the shampoo & conditioner i’m using at the moment is doing much good for my hair so i might give kloraine a go. thanks for the recommendation!

I’ve also heard a lot about the dry shampoo but I haven’t tried that yet. Will look into the micellar water. I love my Bioderma but I’m always looking for ne products to try. :)

The way you described and reviewed this was really interesting and thorough. Have never heard of this but it sounds really good (I tend to have the same dry hair/oily scalp issue in the winters) and will keep an eye out for this!

      Thanks! xx
I actually googled shampoos for oily scalp when I was trying to sort the issues and a lot of them recommended Klorane, had never heard of the brand before.

Glad to hear you like it. I tried the dry shampoo from this line and I didn’t like it.

Ohh really? Coz I’ve heard a lot of good things about that one, is it too powdery/obvious?

Definitely recommend a try if you have an oily scalp, also not horrendously expensive. xx

i have the one from them for highlights with Chamomile in it. While I do like it, I find it slightly drying on my hair and it burns like @*#)@& if even a tiny bit touches my eyes..like WAY more than any other shampoo out there. My hair is already terribly dry as is, so I’m always in search of super moisturizing shampoos but bought this on a whim when I had some major highlighting issues going on baha.

Yikes, that hasn’t happened to me yet but I’m generally very sensitive in the eye area anyway to I’m always trying to avoid that.
