So Modi is our next PM! While I’m glad he is, I think the sheer excitement and unreasonable expectations put on the new government might lead to a few disappointments. I really hope they do well, but I wish people view/debate their actions objectively rather than blind faith or extreme pessimism.
Time to move on to beauty now! I’m reviewing a tinted moisturizer today that’s been my everyday go to product for a few months now. After trying the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Foundation, I wanted to explore a bit more. This seemed like a perfect thing for me.
On an everyday basis I just conceal around my eyes and use something light. It applies quickly, I get a natural look with it’s sheer coverage and I’m ready to head out.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser comes in a few different types. This is the oil-free version with SPF 20. I think the other ones are illuminating, not oil free etc. I use the shade Almond. It’s not a perfect match for my skin tone (around NC40) but it’s the closest and it works well as the coverage is sheer.
If you may not know already, a tinted moisturiser is basically your daily face moisturizer + liquid foundation. So your face stays moisturised with a bit of colour as well. As the name suggests, these are very sheer. If I were to compare, one coat of this gives slightly less coverage than one of Mac Face and Body Foundation. This evens out the skin. I also have a bit of redness near my nose which is reduced.
It’s very soft to apply and blends very easily. You can use your hands or a buffing brush, I get good results with either of them. It also gets absorbed quickly, there’s no greasiness or shine. You also don’t need a lot of product to cover your face, just a small dollop.
I really like the finish this gives, it’s very natural and it hugs the texture of your skin (in a nice way). I obviously use this over my normal moisturizer so there aren’t any dry patches when I apply this. They might become visible as the day goes on, but this doesn’t stick to them and highlight it. Having used this in the cold months and now summer, it works well for me in both.
The lasting power is good but not great. At 6 hours, this lasts well for most of the day in office but by the time I’m back it’s very faint. With SPF 20 you get sun protection as well. But if you live in India you probably need SPF 50 anyway. I do not get a white cast when I use this, which is a huge thing for me. That’s also one of the reasons why I prefer this over BB creams.
It doesn’t have any fragrance in particular and it can be used on all skin types. While it claims to control oil, I didn’t notice it that much. I have dry skin but my T-zone tends to get oily by midday. It doesn’t accentuate or curb it.
This comes in a thick tube which is easy to travel with as well. It’s pricey but 50ml of product is going to last your for a very long time. It’s a lot more than most face products.
Overall, I love it! It gives me the kind of coverage I want; I love the finish and ease of use. There are a ton of cheaper tinted moisturizers more easily available now, so I won’t say that you HAVE to get it unless you can’t get a good shade match. A lot of the tinted moisturizers in the market are on the lighter end with a very small range. Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser comes in 10 shades.
