I just be the last person so review these but I don’t wear red very often, so it takes me longer to review brights! Anyway, this particular shade of this pretty has a cult status for being the lipstick in this picture, if you don’t already know.
Gonna start off with saying that these lipsticks are amazing. I bought more shades after trying the first one. Money well spent.
L’oreal Moist Matte range comes in 8-9 (mostly) bright shades. One of the red shades is Lincoln Rose which is a bright warm red. Not tomato red though, it isn’t very orange. A lot of the other reds that I own are more blue toned like Revlon True Red, Mac Ruby Woo. Mac All Fired Up and the like is more pink toned.
This is insanely pigmented and you get full payoff with one swipe. The consistency of these lipsticks is creamy but thin. So you get a thin layer packed with so much pigment that you get true colour. That’s a similar quality to a lot of high end lipsticks where it feels lightweight but its still very very pigmented.
Now the finish of this is semi matte. In comparison to Mac Matte and even the Retro Matte finish, this isn’t quite the same. The finish you get is more along the lines of Revlon Matte Balms, it’s more velvety or suede, not matte.
However, these are very very comfortable to wear. They do glide easily on the lips as they are very creamy. They’re more forgiving to lip problems as they aren’t so drying. They do require a few seconds to set though. They also have a very very slight tackiness to it, it’s not really bothersome. After setting, they don’t budge. Also no bleeding or feathering, it stays intact for the entire time you wear them.
These aren’t hydrating but my lips don’t feel too dry if I’m wearing these for a long time. Of course, it’s quite humid now so in general, my lips are in much better shape. It may not be the same in winters.
It is, however, best to keep your lips scrubbed before applying them. They kind of hug the texture of your lips, so chapped lips won’t look pretty.
I’ve worn these for more than 8-9 hours and it just stays on incredibly well. They do transfer but there is just so much pigment that it will take a very heavy meal for it to fade considerably. They also stain your lip if you wear them for a long time. I don’t really mind that though.
A lot of reviews also mentioned these lipsticks breaking. It’s not particularly hot in Pune so maybe that’s why they are in better shape. The outer packaging anyway is very pretty, I like the rose gold metallic look and the little bit of colour on the outside helps!
A lot of drugstore brands have been jacking up their prices and this costs Rs.899 for 4.2g of product! Still cheaper than Mac though! It’s a lot but there are always discounts where you can get it slightly cheaper. I bought the other lipsticks in this range for around Rs. 720 when there was a sale at Nykaa. So, as I always say, keep an eye out for the sales! But that said, these are very very good quality lipsticks and worth the extra cash.
If you want to use these and get a proper matte finish, layer them on while blotting in between and in the end, put a tissue on your lips and pat a bit of loose powder over it. It wears long, it’s not completely 100% transfer proof but it transfers very little. And all those layers mean that there is always some pigment to fall back on. Hope that helps!
