L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Gloss in Juliette

The L’oreal Shine Caresee lip glosses are all the rage! I picked up Juliette along with Lolita from Myntra.com a while back.

While Lolita is a really good nude, Juliette is a bright tomato red shade. It’s a warm red with a tinge of orange that looks really bold. There’s no shimmer in it, just a great warm red.

These are quite sheer but buildable. You can see in the swatches below, with one swipe the colour looks very uneven. But with 2-3 swipes it’s opaque and the lip looks fuller. The colour looks very glossy  like a wet liquid lipstick.

These feel very light on the lips. Even after three layers, they don’t feel heavy or gloopy. When you apply it, you get that cold wet feeling which stays the same no matter how many layers you apply. It also goes over the problem areas and makes your lips looks very smooth and even.

It needs a few minutes to set after which, it doesn’t budge from it’s place. It does however, feel a bit tacky which can take some time to get used to. This can weather through meals and come out on the other side with most of the colour intact. This won’t come off like your usual lip gloss but it isn’t completely transfer proof like a matte lipstick.

This lasts well for about 6 hours and also leaves an even stain behind. As it fades, I like that it doesn’t become patchy.

I really like the packaging. It’s sleek and the cap isn’t flimsy. You get a wide and tapered applicator which is good for getting reaching the edges with precision. Overall, I’m quite happy with it and the price isn’t exorbitant at Rs. 499 for 6ml.

If you found the nude colours in this range a bit meh, definitely try the brighter ones!

A comparison of the some red lip gloss – Juliette is clearly more orange and warm toned with no shimmer, Red Pow is more of a true red with shimmer, Provocateur is blue based and Strawberry Sorbet is again more pink with shimmer.
