Something about Mac eyeshadows gives you the feeling like you’re holding something precious. It’s well founded with other eyeshadows like Woodwinked, Expensive Pink etc. But with Contrast, I’m not too sure.
From the plethora of finishes and colours, Contrast is a velvet finish eyeshadow. The colour is really something. It’s like a dark blue, almost black base with very fine blue pearly microshimmer. I like that the blue is very cool-toned, no hint of navy or green in it.
The finish is slightly matte and I like the matte base with shimmer kind of look.
Pigmentation wise, I’m just not impressed. It’s sub par considering the amount you pay for these eyeshadows. It does give good pigmentation when used over a primer but I really do expect more. You need to pack it on quite a bit to see high payoff.
When it comes to quality and lasting power, I found this comparable to any other Mac eyeshadow, lasting around 8 hours at it’s best. It lasts long, doesn’t budge, no fallout and doesn’t crease (on me). But I really wish the pigmentation was good. I suppose I take comfort in the fact that I bought this way before the price change.
I still like using it because the colour is so pretty but from a price point, I wouldn’t really recommend it.
