I’m back with a review of Mac Plumful! This is a colour that somehow slipped my radar and I never really noticed it until, I saw it on Estee from essiebutton.com. Thereafter, I promptly went to the Mac store crossing my fingers, hoping it’s not out of stock, snatched it from the MUA’s hand before the girl next to me could even think of buying it, and headed straight to the counter. Probably my shortest and least expensive visit yet. 😉
Plumful is a lustre finish, which means it’s sheer but buildable. I generally prefer lustre because it doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips and I can also adjust the shade to want I really want.
I’d describe the colour as a medium plumy pink. It’s blue toned and has that slight hint of purple in it but it’s still rosy. It looks more blue toned on the lips but I was in complete awe of the colour when I first tried it on! I don’t experiment too much with my look when it comes to office. But this was probably one of the first ‘pink’ lipsticks I wore. It looked good, not too bright and still within the realm of a ‘safe’ colour. What’s not to like?
It has a shine or semi glossy sheen to it. It glides very easily over the lip and distributes evenly. It does have some slip. I feel like this does settle into lines a bit if I haven’t put a balm and I’ve only used 1-2 swipes. The more intense the colour, the smoother it appears on the lips.
I wouldn’t say this hydrates the lips, but they don’t dry as much as they would with matte lipsticks either. This gives you a good 5 hours of wear and doesn’t fade much. I find that this sort of stains a little bit once it’s sheen has faded. If you eat/drink, that’s pretty much what will remain behind. This also has a lovely vanilla scent which can sometimes tempt you to eat the lipstick. I hope I’m not the only one who thinks this way. :/
Mac lipsticks come at Rs. 990 with 3g of product which is expensive but somehow justified because it just works well. But they also have a Back2Mac programme where you can exchange old containers for a new lipstick. I’ve used this lipstick a lot since I got it and every few months this ends up back in my purse.
On another note, with the rupee in freefall, I have a fear that the prices are going to increase soon. Somehow by staying under 1000, Mac always seemed to be at an ok price to buy. Would you still buy from Mac if the prices increase?
