Mac Proenza Schouler Ocean City Blush Ombre

I realize it’s not really helpful to review a limited edition blush that isn’t available anymore but maybe we can just appreciate the beautiful ombre instead. :)

I generally don’t go for any of the Mac Limited Edition products. This was actually my first one and a few months later I bought a lip gloss from The Simpsons collection. I’m gonna take a break from Mac now.

I remember Mac came about with a similar ombre blush which I didn’t get and then Estee Lauder had one, which again I decided not to buy. Instant regret. Months down the line when I first saw the promo for this collection I decided to get the peach one! Now there were a lot of problems when this launched, people were getting the opposite shade, some of the blushes were stiff! It was an epic blush opera full of woes! Luckily I got a great piece in the right shade. :)

The blush in question is Ocean City from Mac’s Proenza Schouler collection. It’s a powder blush with an ombre going from a light sandy colour to a coral pink. When swirled, the colour is a lighter peachy coral which look gorgeous! I know the top part looks more yellow in promo photos but it’s a lot more sandy.

Now this blush does not swatch well, it feels powdery, a bit stiff and uneven but it all goes away when you use a brush. It kicks up quite a bit of powder and is very pigmented. It also blends really well and looks very natural, not powdery at all. I generally go for the middle section and swirl there as I like to build up my blush slowly.

It lasts for a very long time, almost 8 hours with no fading. I also have dry skin and towards the end of the day I don’t think it emphasizes any dry patches. Overall the quality is great. I also love the metallic packaging. The colours are so unusual, makes it’s so unique and easy to spot. It is a bit difficult to open, ruins your nail tips. There’s 14g of product which is massive (regular Mac blushes are 6g). I won’t be hitting pan anytime soon. At the time it cost $30, which isn’t so bad considering the amount you get.

This isn’t available anymore but you can try your luck on eBay or sites like AllCosmeticsWholesale if you really want it.

Yes! Since the lighter colour is yellow toned I don’t have to worry about it look ashy, that can happen with the lighter pinks and peaches. :)

I remember this one because it looked so pretty! At that time there was no MAC store where I live tho, so I never even got to swatch it! Glad to hear it works better than it swatches :)
