Mac Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW40

The studio sculpt concealer was the first Mac concealer I ever purchased and I’ve used it a lot!

Before I start the review, I should mention a bit about where I need to conceal. I have different levels of discolouration on the sides of my nose (near the tear duct) and a bit under the eye. The one on my nose is a much darker colour than the rest of my skin and so concealing is really a 2-step (sometimes 3) process for me. This concealer in particular I use for the darker one. I then usually layer on a concealer that is of my skintone to make it even and as flawless as possible.

So, the Studio Sculpt range from Mac is a medium to heavy coverage concealer. This is cream concealer and gives full coverage with just a tiny tiny amount. I think this concealer is best applied with fingers because you need to warm up the cream to make  go smoothly over your skin at times. I don’t however face this issues in summers when it’s hot!

The consistency is thicker than some of the other concealers I’ve used. But this is definitely meant for serious pigmentation or concealing rather than something a liquid or creamier concealer can achieve.

It’s really soft and blends very well. When you blend it by tapping, it just looks seamless with the skin. I know a lot of people have problems with this creasing and I don’t use it on my eye exactly, so this works for me. I stays put for hours and doesn’t budge.

It gives a nice matte finish and I don’t find the need to set it with a powder unless I’ll be needing this for a really long time.

As I mentioned, this lasts really long. I’ve this all day and when I’m back this concealer was intact. I think after 8 hours it does fade a tad bit, but it’s still mostly there.

I bought this in the shade NW40 which is really orange and hides the darker blue-grayish discolouration really well.

It’s expensive, but it lasts for ages as you don’t need too much at a time. You get 5.5g of product in a very sturdy and heavy glass little tub.

I think this has been discontinued now which makes me really sad. It’s been a holy grail product for me for a long time.

does this crease or settle into lines?

Eventually yes, it does. But it also depends on the skin you are applying it on. It’s best to try it out at the counter first. :)
