Murad Blemish Spot Treatment

I was curious about acne spot treatments and I just wanted to explore a new one after using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. This product has really great reviews but my experience with it isn’t that great.

Murad Blemish Spot Treatment is part of its vast blemish control line. It’s a targeted spot treatment product which you apply on acne. It’s off-white coloured with a lotion like consistency. It contains a few powdery particle bits.

When you apply this, even in a thin layer, it’s very much visible. You can’t really use anything over it like makeup and even a moisturizer. After an hour or two it dries up and basically the lotion part is gone but the powdery part is sticking to your skin, it feels very drying. Because of this you can’t really wear this during the day or if you’re out. Most of the times I could only wear this at night before I slept.

Now my experience is a bit of a rollercoaster. I first used this on some tiny bumps on my forehead, acne that wasn’t fully formed but visible. It was a weekend and I was at home, so as written on the package, I applied a thin layered 2-3 times in a day. After two days it had shrunk and it was gone. I was very pleased.

But as I mentioned before, I quickly realised I couldn’t use this anytime I was outside my house. I tried a one layer a night approach on a few blemishes thereafter and it just made no difference. I’ve used this for four months now in all sorts of combinations and it just hasn’t worked. Maybe the first time was by fluke or my skin the just stopped reacting to it. Either way, I’m not too happy with it.

Lesson learned! I’m going to quietly go back to my La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. I’ve started using this last month and already the results are a lot more consistent than the Murad one.

The packaging is a plastic tube with a nozzle which handy for travel (except that you can’t wear it outside). You get 15ml of product for £17 or around Rs. 1700. I bought this during a sale at FeelUnique.
