Until recently, this has been my ‘perfect’ and go-to foundation. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation aims to give a dewy and natural finish. It adapts well to the texture of the skin and suits dry skin peeps like me.
I have this in the shade Syracuse. If you’re NC40-42 then Syracuse or Stromboli would be good matches. Nars has an excellent shade range, so hopefully you can find a good match. I specifically wanted a foundation that is easy to wear, doesn’t feel heavy and can photograph well. That means no spf!
I always find most foundations too heavy to wear and it just makes my face feel caked on and uncomfortable. This gives sheer coverage, which is not to say it doesn’t cover anything! It can even out your skintone and cover minor blemishes. This is also buildable to give medium coverage. The colour stays well all day and this doesn’t oxidize or turn ashy. Also doesn’t appear white when photographed with flash.
I found the finish of this to be dewy but not shiny. But this may not be the best thing for people with oily skin, especially if you’re looking for a matte finish. I have dry skin and I always moisturize before I put on anything. If it’s really hot, I do use powder over this. This lasts really well all day, definitely more than 7-8 hours. It does fade a bit but never disappears. You always need a good cleanser to remove it. It’s the best thing if you want something more than a tinted moisturizer but just as light. This doesn’t clog pores or give me any dry patches.
The consistency of this foundation is a light liquid. It’s a bit runny but not as much as Mac Face and Body or Chanel Aqualumiere. You need to shake it well before using. I like applying this with a stippling brush. I just dab it all over my face and then blend in circles. But sponge or a dense brush works equally well, it’s very easy to blend this.
My only problem with this is the packaging. It’s glass which means it’s sturdy, but too heavy to carry around with you. The top cap, as you might notice here and with other Nars products, gets messy very easily. Also, this doesn’t come with a pump. The opening of the bottle is a bit wide and you have to be careful to not pour out too much. These are minor things, but I really wish a product like this came with a pump, or a nozzle type opening.
Now I know Nars is an expensive brand and this costs $44. But you do get 30ml which is a lot and the shelf life is 2 years which is really good as well. I don’t wear foundations everyday, but for going out in the evening or occasions, this has been well used.
