I’m sitting here all cozy in bed, fuzzy socks on my feet, warm sweater on and a nice cup of hot chocolate next to me (when it was written, not posted). It’s the perfect mood to talk about a lip balm that makes be feel all warm and cozy. It has many names, like ‘Holy Grail Lip Balm’, ‘The Matte Lip Balm’, ‘Saviour of Lips’, but popularly known as Nuxe Reve de Miel.
If you’ve already used this, feel free to just nod vigorously and express your love below. If you haven’t, this review is for you.
NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Balm with ingredients featuring honey, almond oil, shea butter etc is a very hydrating lip balm. I say that because generally with most lip balms, the minute they come off your lips end up dry. Somehow, when I apply and remove Nuxe, it takes a few hours for my lips feel dry again. I also heals chapped lips and sun irritation.
It has a slightly grainy and waxy texture which is just so weird and it took me a while to get used to it. It’s very thick but you need very little product. It instantly soothes the lips and feels like they’re being hugged. I do like the formula, it’s on the thicker side and I generally use this at night. When I wake up in the morning my lips still feel very soft and hydrated.
One of the amazing things about this is the finish. Most lip balms look too shiny and slippery, this one (owing to the thick texture) stays in place and also has a semi matte finish. Basically there’s no shine so it also makes it easier to apply a lip product over it. I usually apply the lip balm beforehand and blot it right before I apply lipstick. It also lasts for a good 5-6 hours.
I started using this lip balm around 5-6 months ago and I feel like it’s revolutionized my lip balm army (more on that in an upcoming post). It was all the rage on You Tube and it was affordable enough to buy, also pretty much always conveniently on sale.
My one gripe is that it was it’s a tub. That’s probably the only bad thing I have to say about this. As great as the frosted glass packaging looks, I can’t carry this around with me and I wish the tube version was just as good. Nuxe does actually make a tube version lip balm but a lot of reviews say that the formula is different and it’s not as good, let me know if you’ve tried it!
It is a little bit pricey at £9.50 but each one will easily last you for more than 6 months. In the last year a lot of french brands have been directly available in India, I’m hoping Nuxe will follow suit! But for now you can buy it from FeelUnique or Escentual. Also, if you want the anniversary packaging, it’s still available on FeelUnique.
