Hope you guys had a great weekend! I watched X-men and did a bit of window shopping. Went to the Mac store in Pune and was informed that the second one in Phoenix Market City is now up and running! I’m hoping they’ll have everything in stock! I really want to buy Mac Texture. The Maleficent collection is also out but I didn’t feel like buying any of them.
Okay, I’ll stop rambling now. Something snapped in my brain a few months ago and on a whim I decided to buy Nyx blushes from eBay. I think I managed to get these for $5 each. Now I know Nyx is available in India but the price difference is just so much. It’s worth buying from eBay or Cherry Culture if you’re getting a bunch of items so that you save more even if you include shipping.
So anyway, Nyx Cream Blushes are so affordable and good quality I decided to go ahead and buy the shades Tea Rose and Hot Pink. I’ll only be reviewing Tea Rose today but formula wise Hot Pink is no different.
Tea Rose as the name might suggest is a warm rosy brown. How many times have you heard that on my blog? 😉
It’s a very wearable office appropriate kind of shade. For me, it’s like the cream version of Tarte Exposed or Nars Douceur. It gives a nice warm colour to the cheeks but not too obvious. Now this is a cream blush that’s very very dewy and on the skin it stays that way. I lot of the blushes these days turn to powder or give a velvet finish, this is straight up a cream blush with no change in the finish.
It’s very very pigmented but sheers out when you blend it. It can be layered to build up the colour but still looks very natural and seamless. Over other products like foundation, this just hugs the texture so well. It didn’t cling to any dry patches which were apparent after a few hours either. It just looks really smooth and even.
The consistency is very soft and creamy. It looks really wet when you apply it but after blending (which is so easy for this) it gives a natural finish. It doesn’t look patchy or too shiny. For people with oily skin, I’m not sure how suitable this will be during summers. Perhaps a cream to powder one like this is more suited. For dry skin peeps like me anything dewy works all year round!
This stays on well for 6 hours even when applied sheer. Towards the end of the day, it does fade but doesn’t look uneven. Overall, it’s not stellar staying power but it’s quite adequate.
The super awesome blendable quality is why I keep this in my purse. I pretty much always forget blush on my way out and this is great on the go.
The packaging is pretty basic and there’s no mirror either which isn’t so great. You get 3.5g of product for $5-7 in US (which is around Rs. 300). In comparison, if you buy this in India, it’s Rs. 650. Btw, if you do want to buy these right now, there’s a sale going on at Nykaa.com for the next 2-3 days.
