It’s time to review another Revlon lip butter! You can view all the other lip butter posts I’ve made so far here. Cotton Candy is actually one of the most unique shades of lipstick I own. It’s a very lip gloss colour that I own as a lipstick.
Cotton Candy really does look like what the name suggests. It’s a very blue-toned pink with a hint of lilac in it. But the most gorgeous part about the lipstick is it’s golden sheen. it have lovely gold microshimmer that really sets this apart. Normally, a lipstick of this colour would make me look dead. the pink itself isn’t that flattering on dusky skintones. But the gold sheen adds to warm to it. The lipstick being sheer also makes it more wearble. I honestly do not won any lipstick in this type of shade although one always wants to wear this. It’s such a pretty pink and finally, I can wear this without it being too nude. On the tube it’s a really pretty colour.
The lipstick is very sheer but it builds up well. The final colour does depend a lot on the colour of your lips. I image the colour not showing through on very pigmented lips, which is a shame.
The finish is very glossy and high on the shine quotient. There is a slight roughness that comes with the microshimmer. It can be a bit distracting unless you have a layer of moisturizer between that and your lips. It doesn’t feel very light on the lips but it still is incredibly moisturizing. I like the finish and how it sits on the lips. There isn’t any bleeding and it doesn’t settle into lines unless you’ve had it on for a very long time. It doesn’t fade evenly.
The lasting powder is about 3-4 hours if you don’t eat or drink anything. It isn’t transfer proof.
So the packaging, as I’ve raved about before is very pretty indeed. I’m not completely happy with the quality, but I just love the colour. With Rs. 600 and 2.55g, it might not be the best. There are other lip butters which have better pigmentation and staying power like Raspberry Pie, Pink Truffle, Tutti Fruti etc.
