Rimmel Apocalips is one stellar product! I’m not sure if and when it will launch in India, but I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
Apocalips are basically a lip lacquer or lip cream similar to Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams. Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial is a mauve pink shade. It’s a good neutral for deeper skintones and a good everyday pink for lighter ones. If you liked Maybelline’s Mirrored Mauve, you’ll like this one too.
This looks so amazing on the lips, it gives full coverage and makes them appear smooth and fuller. The consistency is a thick lip cream, it’s glossy but not too much. It doesn’t evenly settle into a matte finish although the gloss does tone down after a while. This does feel a weighty on the lips. Not as much as a gloopy lip gloss, but more so than others. But it isn’t sticky so it’s something you eventually get used to.
I love how evenly it applies, it doesn’t settle into lines or gather at the edges even after 4 hours. It is very transfer prone so you have to be careful. I wore this for six hours and it was still going strong. Little bit of food and drink is alright and doesn’t diminish it much. This one didn’t stain my lips but the darker shades might.
These can be worn over a lipstick or by themselves. It may not be hydrating but it certainly wasn’t drying either. I generally moisturize my lips anyway, but I had no problems with this.
The packaging is really awesome and doesn’t feel shoddy. I also like that they show the shade colour on the outside. You get your standard doe foot applicator though this one feels a bit longer. But it’s very easy to apply and get into corners.
You get 5.5ml of product for around Rs. 600. You can get this on ASOS or FeelUnique. They routinely have discounts so you can get it cheaper!
