I’m so glad for this long weekend! I seriously need to catch up on sleep. In other news, my best friend is getting married soon and I’m on full time bridesmaid duty! I’m so excited!! Right after the wedding I also have a trip to Australia that I need to prepare for. It’s going to be a mad month, hopefully I can keep up with blogging too! ^_^
Back to some lipstick love, here’s one of the most underrated formulas you need to know about! I’ve spoken about the Shiseido Perfect Rouge formula before when I reviewed Pink Messa. After that, I wanted to try more colours and here’s the result!
Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in RD514 Dragon is a cool toned dark red. It’s a not a very deep wine shade like Bobbi Brown Scarlet, but similar to Hourglass Icon. I feel it’s like a classic red that would suit everyone.
If I had to pick a top 10 lipsticks formulas ever (how cruel), this would definitely feature in it! I came across Shiseido lipsticks when my collection was a lot more modest and they’re still one of the best formulas I’ve tried for a creamy lipstick.
Let’s talk about the lip bullet. I’ve seen plenty creamy lipsticks where it looks like it’s going to fall apart and melt away. Could happen with of them, even Mac. Not with Shiseido though! Notice how the bullet actually looks a bit matte and waxy, it stays that way even at the height of summer.
The pigmentation is excellent, a one swipe wonder. Also smooths over the lips without settling into lines or highlighting problem areas. My lips also feel very moisturised when I have this on. The formula is like a gel-cream texture which is very lightweight on the lips. Definitely one of those I-forgot-I-had-lipstick-on formulas. It settles into a satin like finish, there is some shine though.
In general these wear well for 5-6 hours. You can get through drinks and snacks with these but probably not a full meal. This shade in particular does leave a bit of a stain behind. The colour range has a lot of muted wearable brights, which I really like. There a couple of knockouts like RS 320 (a bright purple fuchsia) or Orange Lily.
I like a packaging a lot as well. The metallic dark purple colour and the shape is very unique. You get 4g of product for $25 (around Rs. 1600). I think the price is great considering you get the same level of packaging and formula as the Chanel, YSL price point. If you want to try a high end lipstick below $30, this is a great option.
I’m not entirely sure where you get them in India. I know there are some Shiseido counters in Mumbai (and possibly Bangalore) but I haven’t found a definitive list online.
