So a while back, last winter, I had my sheer red lipstick phase. That’s done with now. Time for peach!
This is a tricky colour because if it’s too light it doesn’t look good on me, if it’s too pink it ends up looking too coral. The best way that I’ve found for me to pull off peach is when it’s sheer! For more opaque shades though, using a lip liner makes it more wearable.
Here are my picks for peach lipsticks (and one lip gloss) that I’ve been loving this summer!
Time to endure my awkward portraits.
Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Orange Ovation :: Review :: First up, we have an old lipstick. Orange Ovation is quite sheer but very buildable. It’s very orange/coral when built up fully but with 2 layers it’s a lovely peach shade. It’s very moisturising, not the best in terms of staying power, but nonetheless, a very beautiful colour.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Liberte :: Review :: This looks very similar to the lipstick above but, Liberte is very very sheer and above it’s built up to it’s full potential. It’s a gorgeous shade. Being so interested in makeup, generally, I tend to go into a store knowing exactly what I want. I found myself at the Chanel store just browsing aimlessly and picked it up. What a gem! It’s a bit muted which makes it look great on my complexion and doesn’t wash me out. It does contain a bit of shimmer but it’s not too noticeable. Overall, this is probably my favourite of the bunch.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Corail in Touch :: This is a very vibrant orange in the tube but since it’s sheer, it does fall into the peachy/coral territory. I love wearing this when I want more colour in a single layer, I love the Rouge Volupte Shine formula for just that. Again, much like the others above, it’s very smooth, glossy and moisturising.
Bourjois Sweet Kiss Naturel Lipstick in Peche Voluptueuse :: This is a very unique shade in my collection, it’s an opaque muted peachy coral. By itself, it would definitely look a bit neon-ish on me. I correct that by lining my lips in a nude/browny shade (think Mac Whirl) and using this inside. It creates that dark to light gradient which makes lighter lipsticks more wearable. Coming to the formula itself, I like how pigmented it is but that’s about it. It clings to your lip’s texture and it’s a very unforgiving formula, but I love the colour, so…
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Peach :: Review :: This is probably the only lipstick where the name just simply defines the colour correctly. It’s a true peach but it does contain a bit of silver shimmer. It’s doesn’t look frosty, but definitely not as creamy as rest of the Colorburst range. This is another shade that I used with a nude lip liner around the edges. If I want a true opaque peach, this is the one I reach for.
YSL Glossy Stain in Corail Aquatique :: Review :: Finally, here’s the odd lip gloss. Corail Aquatique is a brilliant colour which does look a bit different on everyone. It’s a light peach with one layer but more orange with two (as in the image above). I love the formula though, it’s long lasting, not tacky and at times feels like you have nothing on your lips.
Let me know your favourite peach lipsticks!
Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend.
