Vellvette Box : May 2013

I received the May Vellvette box yesterday and I’m liking it! This month, the theme is ‘organic’ and they’ve included products made from completely organic ingredients.     01. Tvam : Almond and Honey Scrub and Body Polisher (sample size) I’m eager to try this out. It has that nice ayurvedic scent.   02. Brocato : Curlinterrupted Smoothing & Hydrating Treatment Kit (sample size) A shampoo and a conditioner! I’ll be trying this out and might take it when I’m travelling! Good timing!   03. Flomar : Deluxe Shine Gloss Lipstick – D40 This is a gloss lipstick hybrid. It’s very creamy and sheer but glossy....

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum

Hello peeps! Hope you are all having a good week. I’m glad it’s Wednesday, which means Friday isn’t far behind! So many months ago, I was thinking of using a hair serum just to see if it made it difference. To be honest it didn’t but I found other uses for this. John Frieda’s Frizz – Ease Super Strength Hair Serum was one I googled and I found decent reviews for it. Sadly, this just didn’t work for me as a serum. You apply this to damp or wet hair. You only need a coin size amount of the gel, just rub it in your palms and spread it across your hair. Now if you use this on your roots, you are bound to get greasy weighted down hair, especially if...

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray

Hello minxes! I was on the hunt for a spray that would give me more volume near my roots, to make it look like I have more hair… Well, I stumbled upon this brand called Bumble and Bumble. My initial reaction was “omg-cute-name!! must-have-it!!”. When the excitement died down, I decided to google their products and the thickening hairspray was the best fit for what I wanted. Bumble and Bumble’s Thickening hairspray is a light which gives different effects depending on your hair type. But in the general sense, it gives more volume at the roots and keeps the fly aways at bay. I have very fine hair and for me this works really well. I’ll go through exactly how I...

Herbal Essences Drama Clean Refreshing Shampoo

Herbal Essences Drama Clean Refreshing Shampoo

This isn’t a happy review. When I bought this shampoo I desperately looked for a shampoo with a green apple/ citrus scent. I walked in Dorabjee’s and this the first one I spotted, smelt it and I was sold. This is a probably a good lesson and how to not buy a product. I lot of the problems that I had with this I didn’t fully realise until I stopped using it and suddenly they were all gone. So bear with me, this might be a bit too rambly. The Herbal Essences Drama Clean Refreshing shampoo is from it’s cleaning range. This does contain SLS and I think that was part of the problem. The consistency of this is like a gel. It’s a translucent green shampoo. For me,...

This april, my wishlist is mostly skincare and lipsticks I’m lusting! I’ve read great products about most of these products and some of them have been in shopping carts and hastily deleted!       01. Burberry : Lip Cover : Dusty Rose The colour is so gorgeous and lip covers are of great quality as well. This is great everyday colour as well.   02. Macadamia : Deep Repair Masque With my Moroccan Oil hair mask over, I’m on the hunt for a new one. I’m anxious to try out this one!   03. Purplle.com Haul and Shopping Review

I was looking for volumizing shampoos and to my delight I was happy to find the Kerastase range at Purplle.com. I though I’d review this site as well! What I Hauled  OPI  : Nail Polish :  Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ (burgundy shade) Bath and Body Works : Body Lotion : Into The Wild Kerastase : Shampoo : Bain Volumactive   Purplle.com They have a very large product range and a number of brands from low cost to high end. I’ve mentioned a couple of brands that standout in the Checklist below. It’s an all-round good site to buy make up, skincare and hair products. I don’t find the design of the site particularly appealing. I’m also quite annoyed with the...

Paul Mitchell Lemon Sage Thickening Conditioner

Paul Mitchell Lemon Sage Thickening Conditioner

When it comes to hair products I love the smell of lemons and citrusy fragrances. I don’t fret much over the shampoo scent (unless it’s too strong) as long as I love the conditioner scent. I was browsing through some sites on the hunt of a new conditioner and this one really stood out. Paul Mitchell is a great brand with good formulas and when I saw ‘lemon’ I knew I had to try this. So I’ve used this for the past month now and I’m damn well pleased with this. You hair has that very natural lemons but not fruity type of smell and it’s amazing. The conditioner is while in colour and medium in consistency. It doesn’t lather much and it throughly...

Tresemme Hair Fall Defense Shampoo

Tresemme Hair Fall Defense Shampoo

In the main months of winter (safe to call it summer now?) particularly in December-Jan I was going through a lot of hair fall. I’m generally very skeptical of the claims that hair products in general make but I had tried Tresemme when I was in UK and was very pleased with their products. I was looking forward to try out their new launched products in India, so I promptly picked up Tresemme’s Hair Fall Defense shampoo. I won’t say this stopped my hairfall, but the quantity and frequency did reduce to a manageable amount. I like the salon like fragrance of this! The shampoo itself is white and very lotion like with medium thickness consistency. It lathers quite well but I...

Moroccan Oil Hair Restorative Mask

Moroccan Oil Hair Restorative Mask

About a year back my hair was awfully dry and in a dreadful state. I really felt the need to use a hair mask or something to keep it well conditioned and soft. I did a lot of research and I finally caved in and bought Moroccan Oil Hair Restorative Mask. It’s a pretty big tub and lasts for quite a while, depending on your frequency of use. I generally use this once or twice a month, that’s how often I can remember/spare time to have this on. So on a regular basis, you put this on your hair instead of your regular conditioner after shampooing. You let it stay for  a good 10 minutes and then rinse it off. Your hair feels a bit heavy but really moisturized. It’s not the type...

Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo

Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo

This one worked! Indeed it did! So after giving Toni and Guy a try, I realized the main problem was the spray not working well. I decided to try a powder dry shampoo instead. Low and behold, Lush No Drought Dry Shampoo! It’s a fine off-white coloured powder. It feels like a talc powder which you put on the oily areas of your scalp and roots. You then massage it qiute a bit till your hair appears matte/dry and there’s no trace of powder. You kinda have to judge for yourself how much powder you’ll need. I generally take some in the palm of my hand and press it down over the area with my index finger. This way, you don’t use too much; your hair won’t turn out grey...

Tresemme Vitamin B5 & Aloe Remoisturising Conditioner

Tresemme Vitamin B5 & Aloe Remoisturising Conditioner

Tresemme has officially launch in India with three new lines. Before they did, you randomly saw shampoo’s and conditioners from lines in other countries. At that time, I happened to buy The Vitamin B5 and Aloe Remoisturising Conditioner. The conditioner contains vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid). I’m not sure the exact benefits of this in hair care so I won’t go on about this. Aloe is generally used to moisturize dry hair and is an ingredient worth note (unlike vitamin B5). I generally just tend to rely on how well with works with my hair. In the end, there is no miracle worker when its come to shampoos and conditioners. The shampoo is white in colour and  soft creamy in...

September 2012 Favourites

This comes late on the schedule but these are products I reached out for last month. I’m in love with OPI Parlez Vous. It’s such a beautiful colour!           01. Dry Shampoo : Lush : No Drought It’s getting warmer and hotter and I so need this on second day hair. It smells lovely and I’m really loving the powder application more than sprays.   02. Lipstick : Revlon : Colorburst in Peach It’s a light coral colour. It’s looks great. I wish it was a bit more moisturizing though.   03. Eyeshadow : NYX : Taupe Staple base eye shadow for me. Can’t ever go wrong with this.   04. Eyeshadow : Mac :...

Redken Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo

Redken Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo

I think a clarifying shampoo is very important in a hair care routine. For everyday shampoos it’s best to use a mild one. However, over the week you do get a lot of built up of product in your hair. Especially if you live in hot and humid climates. It’s good to use a strong shampoo that just cleanses everything once every week or fortnight. I clarifying shampoo does just that (or is supposed to! ) I don’t use a lot of hairspray other than my heat protectant. But I use a dry shampoo 2-3 times a week. That coupled with a humid climate makesmy hair feel really heavy by the end of the week. I use a clarifying shampoo every 10-15 days just to get rid of everything...
