On my review posts I’m always talking about how travel friendly products are etc. Since I spent the better half of last month doing just that, I thought I’d do a ‘What’s in my purse’ instead of the usual monthly favorites!
Let’s dig in!
I mainly carried 3 bags. The red one with two transparent sides was for keeping makeup. I kept the products on one side and the brushes on the other. The pink one was also kept in my luggage and it contained skincare stuff, perfume etc. And lastly, the gorgeous purple print bag is what I kept in my handbag. I was also flying a lot, so this had to pass multiple security checks. Hence, I kept it very basic and...
I really like the limited edition stuff that The Body Shop comes out with. This came out in fall I think, I’m hoping they release it again soon! Also, the Blueberry range is available at the moment! It’s amazing, seriously, go buy it!
Coming back to the review, here’s The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter. It’s a heavenly, heavenly peach fragrance which is so refreshing! Honestly, it’s like slathering peach ice tea on yourself. Suffice to say, I definitely getting this again when it comes out. It’s light peach in colour and very very soft. It doesn’t feel greasy and absorbs within 5 minutes.
Quality wise it’s pretty similar to the other...
It’s time for the monthly favourites. There are a couple of new and old items here.
I was way into my Mac lipsticks last month especially Girl About Town!
01. Nail Polish : Max Factor : Fantasy Fire
Have I not raved about this polish enough? Click and see the review for some duochrome awesomeness.
02. Nail Polish : China Glaze : Fast Track
I love this neutral polish. The formula, the gold shimmers, it’s perfect.
03. Blush : Nars : Douceur
I’m going back to some of my old favourites, this one is always on top of my makeup mess.
04. Spot Treatment : La-Roche Posay : Effaclar A.I.
After being disappointed with the Murad one...
I was curious about acne spot treatments and I just wanted to explore a new one after using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar A.I. This product has really great reviews but my experience with it isn’t that great.
Murad Blemish Spot Treatment is part of its vast blemish control line. It’s a targeted spot treatment product which you apply on acne. It’s off-white coloured with a lotion like consistency. It contains a few powdery particle bits.
When you apply this, even in a thin layer, it’s very much visible. You can’t really use anything over it like makeup and even a moisturizer. After an hour or two it dries up and basically the lotion part is gone but the powdery...
This is a very very late review. I finished using this a month ago but I just never came around to writing about it. I bought this on a whim after my tiny Soap & Glory scrub was used up. My only criteria was a scrub that wasn’t too abrasive.
Fabindia has some really nice products. My mum in particular loves their lotions and I have tried their Aloe & Cucumber face mask before. The Orange and Cinnamon Face and Body Gel Scrub and looks and smells amazing. You have an orange gel and tiny walnut shell particles floating with a really nice cinnamon scent that’s very uncommon.
The particles are very gentle. I feel like this is much better as a face mask. For the body, you...
At some point of time in your life, you might fancy mildly smelling like a strawberry milkshake for the better half of the day. If you ever get that urge, this is the product for you.
I got this in a Vellvette box (now FabBag) and I’ve used up most of it now. I Love… Shower Gel in Strawberries and Cream is a light pink gel which lathers really well and smells heavenly!
It’s bit too strong in the bottle but when you use it, the scent is literally like dousing yourself in the sweetness of a strawberry milkshake. And I like it. I guess I have a new type now.
It doesn’t leave my skin feeling too dry, it generates a lot of lather (if that matters) and overall it’s...
Time for another skincare review! This winter I was using this moisturizer from Korres which is Greek brand. They have quite a nice selection of bath and body products as well.
Coming back to the Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing Brightening Cream is a rich moisturizer. It’s white in colour and as a very mild rose scent which is quite nice.
The consistency is thin but you can tell it’s so concentrated. You don’t need a big blob of this, just a tiny pea size amount for your face and neck will do.
It forms a thin layer. It does however take a while to absorb, your face can look a bit shiny and greasy while that happens but the cream feels very light on your skin itself.
It’s time for the monthly favourites! This is a bit of March and April combined! As you can see there are quite a few nail polishes. I think I just forget to include nail polishes quite often in these. When I do remember, I tend to include a lot of them.
Also if you’re interested, I did a Top 10 Spring Nail Polishes post a while back.
Here we go!
01. Nail Polish : Colorbar : Apple Martini
It’s a gorgeous green shade and I love wearing this on my toes.
02. Nail Polish : Butter London : Toff
It’s a very me shade. It’s a muted deep pink a darker neutral. I love it! The formula is great as well.
03. Nail Polish : Zoya : Perrie
The marketing behind this product is so intriguing with the world “miracle” and “recovery” thrown around a lot. It’s sets up high expectations!
Around last year, I was looking for a face oil to incorporate in my skincare routine. I tried the Nuxe multi-use oil but it broke me out on my face. I just use it for my hair and other dry patches now. I decided to give Kiehl’s a try for the first time!
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is a face serum or facial oil (whichever term you prefer) which claims to give you smooth, supple hydrated skin overnight. On that claim, it does come through but it won’t magically get rid of every spot or blemish...
From the vast sea of lip balms one has, sometimes you just need heavy duty stuff. That’s exactly what the L’occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm is for me.
I have dry lips in general, even more so the winter and with sun exposure they sometimes also get very irritated along the edges. This lip balm works well to combat that keep them really well moisturised.
This suits my skin type/condition really well but it is a very very thick consistency. But it’s also very soft, you have to be careful while applying, too much pressure and you might break the stick.
It feels very soft on the lips but looks a bit waxy and more matte than shiny. You do get that heavy creamy feeling on the lips...
Here’s a skincare review for you! Sephora India is here and one of the benefits is Soap & Glory. Of course, I’m not in Delhi and I haven’t visited Sephora there yet, but get my drift…
Soap & Glory is a brand of good products and witty retro names! I picked up The Righteous Body Butter from MedPlusBeauty when it was available there.
This is very very thick cream. In comparison to the Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture or The Body Shop Body Butters, this feels more potent.
Warning, this is a product meant for very dry skin. For those of you who have oily skin, while it’s hydrating this might feel too greasy for you unless you plan on using this only at...
Hope you guys had a great weekend! Best to start off this week with a bit of wishful thinking! This is a more realistic wishlist for me because there are a few products that I might actually end up buying.
01. Origins : Face Mask : Drink Up 10 Minute Mask
Heard a lot of good stuff about this mask, might actually buy this. It’s a good hydrating mask.
02. Clinique : Blush : Cheek Pop Blush : Ginger Pop
I want these, hope they release soon in India. Ginger Pop looks like a perfect everyday blush.
03. Dior : Face Powder : Diorskin Nude Compact : Apricot Beige
I’m on the market for a new face powder. Should be light, little spf, a nice mirror, sturdy...
Hey guys! Is it raining in your city? I swear it’s been raining atleast once a month since October! It’s insane, but I’m not complaining! ^_^
Here are my favourites for Feb and Jan 2014! To be honest, this is a small favourites post because most of the things I’m using I’ve already covered multiple times in other posts!
01. Exfoliant : Dermalogica : Gentle Cream Cleanser
I’ve already reviewed it but it’s a really good chemical exfoliant. Love this!
02. Moisturizer : Korres : Wild Rose 24hr Moisturising Cream
This is very rich cream. I used this and the Clarins one in winter. You need a really tiny bit for this to...
I have another skincare review for you! This was also in my skincare routine and I’m so glad I found this product!
We all know (or not) how important exfoliation is. I’m still not the most knowledgeable person but over the last two years I’ve been trying out different products to see what works best for me and I’ve found a winner! Totally jumping on the chemical exfoliant bandwagon here!
Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant is a exfoliant in the form of a facemask. It’s main ingredients are lactic acid and salicylic acid which help remove dead skin cells. It’s exfoliation for the lazy!
This comes out as a very very thick paste, almost clay like. It’s...
I first heard about this product on Lisa Eldridge’s skincare video and my hunt for a water based makeup remover started there.
In general, up until last year I was using the usual oil and water combo makeup removers. But I hated that oily residue that was left behind, I always had to wash my face after using even a tiny bit. It became only worse when it came to correcting makeup, that little area of oiliness left behind.
I think Caudalie’s Cleansing Water was the first water based one I tried. I loved how it felt but it didn’t remove makeup as efficiently as Bioderma.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O is a micellar water solution developed specially for sensitive skin. It’s very...
