Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part One

So New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 RTW is almost at the end there have been some really great shows so far. I really liked Escada and the bright colours and prints used. Halston Heritage has such a sleek and modern collection. I love the silhouettes. There's always something to look forward to at a Monique Lhuillier show and the pastel lace gown is just incredible. I could just watch those gowns all day and feel at peace. BCBG Maz Azria has a bit of  a shabby chic thing going on but I…Read more
Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 4 & 5

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 4 & 5

The final installment of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. You can view the previous posts here and here. The final two days were packed with glamorous collections and exquisite work on show from Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Anushree Reddy and JADE by Monica & Karishma. Some were more contemporary like Ridhi Mehra, Payal Singhal which I really liked. I also loved Anushree Reddy's collection with florals and sheer fabrics with beadwork. It has a very delicate look.   Manish Malhotra   Shantanu & Nikhil   Shehla Khan   JADE by Monica & Karishma…Read more
August 2014 List Love

August 2014 List Love

I haven't done one of these for a long time. For new readers, List Love is basically where I list down notable bloggers, books and in general anything else I'm chuffed about!     Link Love - Books 1. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - I was in the mood to read a nice thriller and this was on the Kindle bestseller list. I liked it! The ending was a bit unexpected but overall I liked the mystery! 2. Sir Vidia's Shadow by Paul Theroux  - It's a very different book from what I've read…Read more

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 2 & Day 3

Hello here! So happy it's a holiday today! 3-day weekends should be a permanent thing! Anyway, here's part 2 of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 collections. It's pick of some of my favourite ones from Day 2 and 3. There was a lot of festive wear as well.  Most notable for me were Anita Dongre, Divya Seth and probably Soumitra Mondal.   Anita Dongre Day 2 ended with the Anita Dongre show which was so stunning, I really like it when work is intricate and not too heavy, this was perfect. I also…Read more
Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Preview & Day 1

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Preview & Day 1

Lakme Fashion week is(was) here! It’s a nice precursor to the main big 4 fashion weeks next month. In this post I’ll be covering some of the collections that I liked from the preview and Day 1. I’m so glad that this time round they also had four Pakistani designers! Zara Shahjahan designs such beautiful romantic pieces.     Amit Aggarwal Amit Aggarwal’s collection was instantly recognizable with his futuristic touch. Not sure why people kept labeling it as tribal, but for me it had that insect inspiration. The volume and sheen of the…Read more
India Couture Week 2014

India Couture Week 2014

So I'm probably the last person writing about India Couture Week 2014 and it took me while to do this mainly because I had other posts scheduled. I really really wish the fashion timetable in India was more streamlined. It just feels so chaotic with the sponsor names and dates. I also wish there was a nice centralized website where I can get all the latest info. Sort of like WWD or Style.com for Indian Fashion. Recently, I did find fashionfad.in which has a nice archive of all designers and good photos. Vogue.in…Read more

Fall 2014 Couture Collections

Fall 2014 Couture Collections

Hey guys! I hope you might have noticed, Xuvious.com has a new layout! I got kind of bored with the old one and I really wanted to improve the navigation. So the menu is more streamlined and there are also more ways of browsing the site (as can be seen in the sidebar). I also made it responsive so it'll be better to view on a tablet or mobile. Let me know if you like the changes or if you find any bugs/broken links! That aside, here are the Fall 2014 Couture collections!…Read more
Magazine Mayhem June 2014

Magazine Mayhem June 2014

It's that time of the month when magazine mayhem comes out! This time round I'm featuring mostly June covers and also some from May which are really great. Enjoy!       I really like the Amber Heard W cover. The colour reminds me of WWII and her stoic grave expression goes with that as well. There are a bunch of FIFA World Cup covers (which is nice to see in a fashion magazine). So many of them feature Gisele Bundchen! I really like the red Versace dress in Harper's Bazaar Thailand. Sonam…Read more
