Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu
You always expect drama and edge with a McQueen collection and it was delivered.
The mood was celebratory even though the colour palette wasn’t. The detailing with the beading, embroidery and is...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Valentino
I like seeing Chanel in pink. The sheer brightness of it was surprising but the less loud shades like purples and berry toned pinks looked really good. I love the pearl accessories in this collection. The array of colours really reminded me of the Alberta Ferretti collection but looked really vibrant. That swimsuit is killer.
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent
I love the sheer skirts and lace dresses in this collection. It’s definitely not out of place with this seasons trends and feels very well put together. I also love the muted pink suit, it looks very chic and dainty.
Every season Elie Saab’s collection is what I’m dying to see. Yes,...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chloé, John Galliano and Givenchy
The show had a very earthly vibe with the colours and the simple plain silhouettes. But it was desert chic in a way which I quite liked.
I love the colour palette in this collection. The perforated designs and floral cut outs give a very sleek and feminine look. But the gowns are really...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Kenzo, Céline and Lanvin
The team at Kenzo had a strong message to show. To stop endangered fish from being hunted. The references were subtle in the fish silhouette prints until the t-shirt with the words came out, making sure the message didn’t go unheard. It’s always interesting to see designers take important issues and play it out on the runway.
The brushstrokes made the collection perfect for the...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme Des Garçons and Maxime Simoëns
Jean Paul Gaultier
The collection was an ode to the power combination of music and fashion. References to Grease, Madonna and even Amy Winehouse could not have been more obvious. That said, the leather separates made a big impact as did the off shoulder ruffled dresses.
Comme Des Garçons
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Viktor & Rolf, Acne Studios and Vivienne Westwood
Viktor & Rolf
The collection was a playful one with classic shapes and styles mixed up with modern cuts. I love the white dress with the embellishments and the embossed designs.
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Yohji Yamamoto, Cacharel and Haider Ackermann
The collection had a lot of depth in terms of the variety. The peek-a-boo blazers felt very fresh. The fluorescent hues were like a breath of fresh in what would have otherwise been a bland runway show. The camo print and layers gave the pieces a very wearable feel.
Cacharel’s collection looks excellent! I love...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Christian Dior, Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Margiela
The Christian Dior Birds of Paradise collection really resonated when I saw the runway. The clothes and decor all have that burst of colour. But it’s the separates that really caught my eye. I love the pink and black pleated dress and the blazers with the wrap effect. Overall, it’s not the most exciting collection but there are pieces that elevate it to a youthful and fresh...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Roland Mouret, Issey Miyake and Sonia Rykiel
I love the bright pastels used in Roland Mouret’s collection. The asymmetric cuts give a really youthful feel to the collection. The dress with the hot pink top and blue print below is amazing. The satin mint dress is also very gorgeous with a fitted sexy vibe.
The fanned skirts were...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Balmain, Barbara Bui and Nina Ricci
It’s a brilliant collection. Using classics like the houndstooth, quilted fabric and giving it a modern twist is always good to see. The chunky zippers and chains felt overwhelming at times but tie in nicely with the outfits. the back leather quilted jacket looks amazing and will sellout fast! The powder blue quilted trousers look so comfy and sophisticated at the same time. I’ve mentioned this before, ruffles aren’t my thing, but the large waves at the bottom look very...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Ann Demeulemeester, Carven and Paco Rabanne
I find this collection very edgy. the prints and sheer panels make it softer and tame it. I like the jackets and coats best. The print velvet black jacket with zippers and the pale grey long coat look really good.
So camouflage is in! But it’s spring and the bright colours with the modern silhouettes look very fresh. The belt embroidery with the gingham...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Balenciaga, Bouchra Jarrar and Manish Arora
It’s a collection that got better with every look. Prints? Ruffles? They were restrained and a the outfits had smartness to them, but to see colour and print was unexpected and wowed people. I love the caplets on the dresses and the sheer skirts.
Bouchra Jarrar’s RTW collections always give a sense of normalcy in comparison to her couture ones. They are...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Dries van Noten, Rochas and Gareth Pugh
Dries van Noten
Gold seemed to make a point in this collection. It indicated a different style from the rest, something that set it apart and visually very large and opulent. I love the tribal print top with the beads. The kimono inspired vests are gorgeous as well and I love the bright colour. I’m not too big a fan of the side ruffles, but I do love them on the sleeves of the mustard...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Cédric Charlier, Vanessa Bruno and Alexis Mabille
Starting off with Paris Fashion Week!
His collections are generally very structural and bold. This time round, there was that same manipulation of fabric to make it more dimensional. At the same time, using sheer layers gave way to a more modern look. I love the high low hems in the light material which makes it flow.
Butterflies! I love how...
