Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part One

So New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 RTW is almost at the end there have been some really great shows so far. I really liked Escada and the bright colours and prints used. Halston Heritage has such a sleek and modern collection. I love the silhouettes. There's always something to look forward to at a Monique Lhuillier show and the pastel lace gown is just incredible. I could just watch those gowns all day and feel at peace. BCBG Maz Azria has a bit of  a shabby chic thing going on but I…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu   Alexander McQueen You always expect drama and edge with a McQueen collection and it was delivered.   Louis Vuitton The mood was celebratory even though the colour palette wasn't. The detailing with the beading, embroidery and is gorgeous.     Miu Miu The entire collection revolved around this chic Parisian girl and I love the aesthetics. The pastel coats in particular with the knit leggings is a very beautiful look.       Image Credit : Style.com |…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Valentino

Spring 2014 RTW : Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Valentino

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Valentino   Chanel I like seeing Chanel in pink. The sheer brightness of it was surprising but the less loud shades like purples and berry toned pinks looked really good. I love the pearl accessories in this collection. The array of colours really reminded me of the Alberta Ferretti collection but looked really vibrant. That swimsuit is killer.     Giambattista Valli Feminine clothing has always been his forte and this time round there was symmetric draping, volume and the lightness…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent

Spring 2014 RTW : Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent   Stella McCartney I love the sheer skirts and lace dresses in this collection. It's definitely not out of place with this seasons trends and feels very well put together. I also love the muted pink suit, it looks very chic and dainty.     Elie Saab Every season Elie Saab's collection is what I'm dying to see. Yes, it's always more of the same but how often can a formula work so well? I think the colours…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Chloé, John Galliano and Givenchy

Spring 2014 RTW : Chloé, John Galliano and Givenchy

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chloé, John Galliano and Givenchy   Chloé The show had a very earthly vibe with the colours and the simple plain silhouettes. But it was desert chic in a way which I quite liked.     John Galliano I love the colour palette in this collection. The perforated designs and floral cut outs give a very sleek and feminine look. But the gowns are really gorgeous!     Givenchy Wow, I was blown away by this one! I love the draping and play with fabric.…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Kenzo, Céline and Lanvin

Spring 2014 RTW : Kenzo, Céline and Lanvin

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Kenzo, Céline and Lanvin   Kenzo The team at Kenzo had a strong message to show. To stop endangered fish from being hunted. The references were subtle in the fish silhouette prints until the t-shirt with the words came out, making sure the message didn't go unheard. It's always interesting to see designers take important issues and play it out on the runway. Céline The brushstrokes made the collection perfect for the artistically inclined. I love the skirts in this collection! Lanvin The collection was…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme Des Garçons and Maxime Simoëns

Spring 2014 RTW : Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme Des Garçons and Maxime Simoëns

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme Des Garçons and Maxime Simoëns   Jean Paul Gaultier The collection was an ode to the power combination of music and fashion. References to Grease, Madonna and even Amy Winehouse could not have been more obvious. That said, the leather separates made a big impact as did the off shoulder ruffled dresses.   Comme Des Garçons It would perhaps be easier to mock this collection but the underlying truth remains that when it comes to fashion, there are forms and constraints…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Viktor & Rolf, Acne Studios and Vivienne Westwood

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Viktor & Rolf, Acne Studios and Vivienne Westwood   Viktor & Rolf The collection was a playful one with classic shapes and styles mixed up with modern cuts. I love the white dress with the embellishments and the embossed designs.     Acne Studios and   Vivienne Westwood The collection is fit for any glamorous Halloween party. But styling aside, there are actually some wearable pieces here too like the floral dress and camel blazer. I love the use of tulle and lace to give…Read more
Spring 2014 RTW : Yohji Yamamoto, Cacharel and Haider Ackermann

Spring 2014 RTW : Yohji Yamamoto, Cacharel and Haider Ackermann

Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Yohji Yamamoto, Cacharel and Haider Ackermann   Yohji Yamamoto The collection had  a lot of depth in terms of the variety. The peek-a-boo blazers felt very fresh. The fluorescent hues were like a breath of fresh in what would have otherwise been a bland runway show. The camo print and layers gave the pieces a very wearable feel. Cacharel Cacharel's collection looks excellent! I love the floral and stripe prints used. There is this particular magenta floral print which is very similar to ones used…Read more
