At London Fashion Week, things took quite a turn as Mary Katrantzou explored darker colours while Preen and Jonathan Saunders had beautiful collections as well.
Inspired by paintings, Mary Katronatzou’s collection this season honed in the beauty of still art while exploring printed pictures and shadows in silhouettes. The very opening piece is like art with the lines, noise, blurring in between and has so much dimension to it. While using these urban and country landscapes as the main theme, the silhouettes are what speak the loudest. I love the hint of colour in the otherwise grey dresses. The black printed suit however is subtle and very pretty indeed.
Preen had a very chic collection while focusing on the powerful black, white and red palette. The highlighted collars, sheer and prints mixed, skirts with zippers to adorn, there was a very urban and young feel to the collection. I love the sideways turned collar, it’s such a nice touch. The flowing maxi dress with white in the front and black on the back is so gorgeous. And finally, the dresses with colourred embroidery are stunning as well.
Jonathan Saunders’s collection had a pin up girl feel to it with the emphasized bustier and it’s sharp shape. The collection really isn’t my style and so you might consider this to be baised. But I do love the turquoise dresses with the appliques.
