Rodarte going dark and bright, Anna Sui’s distinctive boho side persisted and Ralph Lauren showed the classic look, all at New York Fashion Week 2013.
Rodarte’s collection started with a series of dark pieces, it set quite a different tone and I’m sure people were struck with the acid bright colours that came to light! That said, the separates in this collection are well designed. I love the peach coat with the white studs and the heavily embellished scarf like dress. The acid dye dresses with the embroidery on the top looked great. This is a collection that had a lot of shock value and certainly surprised the viewers.
If you are looking for layering, beautiful prints, look no further than Anna Sui. On the outside, every collection looks so similar yet you find something new in it each time. The look the warm coloured clothes this time (I was partial to blues last time). The giant cross like pendants seem to be a real trend this time around!
With the berrets and old style hats, the collection had a very classic feel to it. I love the velvet dresses and the purple blazer as well. The black beaded gown is gorgeous as is the navy one with ruffles. It’s certainly very wearable although the collection itself seems all over the place. Nevertheless, I’m sure people looking for classic pieces will find some relief in Ralph Lauren.
