Day 1 at Lakme Fashion Week concluded with amazing collections from Masaba, Shivan & Narresh and Manish Malhotra!
Masaba’s collection was very chic. I loved the dhoti style skirt and the bold print. The fit and flare dress with the neon yellow embroidery is gorgeous! I also love the sheer blouse with the “fitted” saree.
Shivan & Narresh
I absolutely adore this collection. Every piece flows into the next so well. My favourites is the coral polka dotted top with the high-waisted turquoise skirt. I also loved the swimsuits in this collection!
Manish Malhotra’s collection had the Bollywood theme, taking after each decade in it’s glory. So, I have a bit of a rant to make and I before I do so, I have to say that I do love the collection, the designer, the clothes are amazing. But, my peeve is the “bollywood” theme, a phase that is just unending. I mean, if you want inspiration there are so many things within India (if you’re looking at India for inspiration) to find. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with being inspired by Bollywood. But for me, the novelty has worn off. These collections don’t excite me anymore, I can pretty much predict what they’ll look like. Having said that, there are good collections as well, like Joy Mitra’s WIFW collection. But please, we use something else as inspiration!!!
Now that that’s over with, I do love the black and white sarees, they look very classic. The chartruese and pink sarees certainly stole the show.
