Many of the resort collections seem like an extension of spring and not all together different. Here, I’ll be reviewing collections by Oscar de la Renta, Just Cavalli and Moschino Cheap and Chic.
Oscar de la Renta
Appliques, florals, volume; Oscar de la Renta’s resort collection had all that and then some. The asymmetrical peplum is one distinct piece here and while difficult to pull off, it has certain appeal to it. The chartruese kimono style top and blue mermaid skirt seems a bit much but individually I think they are really great pieces. The floral bodice with a bubble peplum and sleek black gown is one of my favourites in this colection. The collection has a very garden chic vibe to it.
Cavalli’s collection isn’t for the timid. Against the stark white, the symmetric, block tribal and animal prints seem all that more magnified. I love the full leopard print suit. I’m not sure if it’s velvet or a holographic type fabric but I love it. The simple white dress with the printed sleeves is also a great way to incorporate the elements in your style if you aren’t the leopard print suit type.
Moschino Cheap and Chic
Before I start with the clothes, I have to say how darn amazing those shoes are. I love the mesh and the little bow at the end. It was a very suburban collection with the watering can and apron like skirts and prints. But I loved the white gown with embellishments and lace.
