Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Christian Dior, Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Margiela
The Christian Dior Birds of Paradise collection really resonated when I saw the runway. The clothes and decor all have that burst of colour. But it’s the separates that really caught my eye. I love the pink and black pleated dress and the blazers with the wrap effect. Overall, it’s not the most exciting collection but there are pieces that elevate it to a youthful and fresh appearance.
I wasn’t too impressed with this collection. The ruffles were a bit much and frankly, it felt a bit old. There is one printed ruffled mini dress that I did like but I think the separates and pieces are best when worn separately. The lace jackets were the only other piece I liked.

Blingy is not a word I’d usually use to describe Maison collections but this time round it was overwhelming. I loved the sharpness and jewel toned colours for the separates and suits. But the bling ruined it for me. I preferred it instead, when it was more artistic with the couture like embroidery on the black dress. The mosaic like patterns in pastel were a nice addition too.
