Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week : J. Mendel, Bibhu Mohapatra and Cynthia Rowley
J. Mendel’s collection had that lovely spring vibe with the intricate pattern blocking, the trellis like pattern, the lace and ofcourse, the lovely spring colours. The fishtail gowns are what impressed be the most. The coral gown with the pink piping all over is so gorgeous. The few separates in this collection are also very wearable.
The digital flower being the centerpiece of this collection, Bibhu Mohapatra showcased his vision for a spring revival. The silhouettes were relatively simple but the draping, pleating and collars were what set it apart. The shattered glass detail is another antithesis to his vision executed very well. I love the way the pleats show an image of a shattered flower with the similar glass patterns used in the collar. The coral embellishments also look very dainty. I loved every bit of this collection.
I felt the decor had a very seedy vibe to it and it definitely enhanced the overall look and feel of the collection. I love the separates with the garland like flower motif.
