Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week : Nicole Miller, Jill Stuart and Mara Hoffman
Nicole Miller’s fantastic is being lauded as a revolution. And rightly so, you can see it in the mixture of loud prints which look enticing and even a rather print-shy person like me would like to wear them. Stripes with florals is certainly a trend this season. The kaleidoscopic cuts and shapes look brilliant. I also like the draping in some pieces but there are also well tailored ones for those who prefer something more simple. The prints in the latter half of the collection which look like broken glass looks so stunning. I love the effect it has over a simple plain background.
With a largely monochrome collection, it’s nice to see a dash of colour here and there. The separates are exquisite with embellishments, embroidery and piping. I love the volume at the shoulders. The dress white mini dress is also very pretty.
The queen of prints has another bright collection. Each piece pretty much carries a rainbow of colours. The serpentine design is featured all over the collection. Did I mention I’m dead scared of snakes or any reference of it? Right, I’m going to try to push those images out of my mind now. Overall, the silhouettes are very casual. The bright maxis with cut outs are my favourites from this collection.
