Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week: Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors and Narciso Rodriguez
Oscar De La Renta
Oscar De La Renta had a well rounded collection that will certainly appeal to all his clients. There were lovely day dresses which looked timeless and smart. There were also more floral and opulent gowns and most people are buzzed about ‘how Galliano’ they are. I loved the polka dot suit with the lace trimmings. The voluminous gowns are stunning.
It was the epitome of American activewear. With sweaters, skirts, shirts the collection had a nice focus on daywear what people really need. The prints added more colour and a fun element to the collection but were still very chic. I loved the swimwear and the neat dress with the exposed midriff.
Form and structure were integral to this collection but it was executed exceedingly well. Right from the get go, we saw a different silhouette dubbed the half skirt. The leather panels and the printed ones in tow kept the collection from being too monotonous. It’s a very modern and edgy look that I think everyone covets.
