Spring 2014 RTW at new York Fashion Week : Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Collection and Marc Jacobs
The last collections for New York Fashion Week! For now the trends seem to go back to the 90’s but overall my usual suspects were the ones I liked the most.
This Ralph Lauren collection felt like a throwback to the previous ones. The black and white floral suits and dresses were a nice addition. When the pop of colour came threw, it was unexpected and made the collection more dynamic. The gowns in the end were phenomenal. The red cap gown is a stunner!
Calvin Klein Collection
I was very unimpressed and bored with this collection. The side flap seemed very unflattering as did the panels near the crotch. It seemed to make the hips look a lot larger than they are and the entire silhouette looked out of proportion. I generally do like the CK minimalist styles but this just wasn’t for me.
The jackets are back. Does that say it all? But this time there is a darker vibe. the tassels and floral print seem to offset the darkness but it makes a good collection! While some of the jackets are obscenely large, you also have smaller ones that are more wearable. I loved the sequins and sheer sleeved dress. This was a collection with an idea or fantasy in mind and those who expected any different were disappointed.
