Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week : The Row, Y-3 and Vivienne Tam
The Row always portrays a city girl with a slight edge. This time the belts, cross body bags and that savannah flair do the trick. I love the different textiles used, overall the dresses have a very desert chic look.
With the difference being athleticism, Y-3 is far different from its peers but just as forceful. The collection was brought to life with the abstract colours and light elements against an otherwise harsh colour. The silhouettes are casual and very wearable. The coats and capes in the end look just as good.
Keeping Shanghai in mind, Vivienne Tam’s collection was a modern spin on the cultural city and its past and present aesthetics. I love the black and white floral pattern used in the collection. Some of the textiles used in this collection are quite beautiful like the blue houndstooth like pattern and the green/blue floral one. Overall, it’s a very wearable collection.
