So I took a bit of a break from the fashion posts, but they’re here to stay! New York Fashion Week is long gone and while a lot of collections failed to make a mark, The Row just floored everyone. Here are some of the collections.
Alice + Olivia is a collection I always look forward to. I love the contemporary and influence of retro styles. The prints and laces dresses look amazing. Reem Acra’s gowns are stunning with the metallic sheer gowns and embellishments.
Zac Posen had a relatively modest collection with well structured gowns and cocktail dresses, it was a very classy affair. The best bit of the Badgley Mischka collection was the ombre floral gown, it’s such a lovely effect, it really makes the gowns look so light and airy.
When I think of Vera Wang, bridal and pastel comes to mind but this gothic collection was surprising! I wasn’t too thrilled with the actual pieces but a few dresses with sheer layers were quite pretty. That said, yet again, Rodarte is one hot mess.
Naeem Khan’s emerald satin gown was so simple but really stood out among the glittering gold embellished gowns. In contrast, Jenny Packham’s nude and blue embellished gown is stunning.
Oscar de la Renta has enchanting collections, with the larger than life gowns and great colours. This time round the green and pink felt very pretty. The floral coats look great as well. Jason Wu designed the Boss collection and to be honest, I preferred this much to his own line. It was forward and the colours were really good.
