Hey guys! I had a very hectic week and now I’m just looking forward to relaxing and blogging this weekend!
Also, Happy Women’s Day! At the very least we get to enjoy sales on this Saturday. I did a tiny bit of shopping on FeelUnique since they’re having 15% discount store wide! ^_^
Rimmel have a nice range of moderately priced nail polishes. This one is from the 60 Seconds line and called Coral Crush. It’s a really nice colour for summer!
As the name suggests, Coral Crush is a mix of pink and orange, a good coral shade. It feels slightly duochrome as it shifts between a few shades of orange and pink depending on the lighting. It’s also a bit pearlescent which...
I first heard about this product on Lisa Eldridge’s skincare video and my hunt for a water based makeup remover started there.
In general, up until last year I was using the usual oil and water combo makeup removers. But I hated that oily residue that was left behind, I always had to wash my face after using even a tiny bit. It became only worse when it came to correcting makeup, that little area of oiliness left behind.
I think Caudalie’s Cleansing Water was the first water based one I tried. I loved how it felt but it didn’t remove makeup as efficiently as Bioderma.
Bioderma Sensibio H2O is a micellar water solution developed specially for sensitive skin. It’s very...
Hey guys! I’m in Jaipur at the moment for the Jaipur Literature Festival. Looking forward to todays session by Amartya Sen, it’s going to be an eventful day!
Essie For the Twill Of It is from it’s collection of the same name. Came out this fall and I just loved it after seeing swatches on other blogs.
I bought this last month and I’ve been loving it a lot!
Essie For The Twill Of It is a metallic colour shifting nail polish. The base colour is a murky brown shade but it appears more grey. Also, depending on the light, it will shift between a pink, mauve, gray and teal shade. It’s an exact dupe of OPI Peace & Love & OPI. (comparison here.)
It has a...
I have a new holy grail nude!! I feel like I’ve been on a lipstick craze lately and it needs to stop! It all started with this YSL lipstick and umm… kind of spiralled out of control there onwards!
So today I’m reviewing the YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in the shade Ultimate Beige or no. 3. It’s also sometimes called ‘Silky Sensual Radiant’. But anyway, Rouge Volupte is the range of creamy, very pigmented lipsticks.
Ultimate Beige is a really pretty pinky brown colour. It looks more peachy brown when you swatch it but definitely more pink on the lips.
In comparison to other lipsticks (see photo below), Maybelline My Mahogany is close but more peachy, Lakme...
Soap & Glory has for a long time been a brand I’ve wanted to try. It’s available in Sephora India (which is only in Delhi) but luckily some online shops do carry it as well!
The Soap & Glory Scrub ‘Em and Leave ‘Em Body Buff is like a body scrub. It smells amazing, a sweet citrusy scent which isn’t too overwhelming.
The texture of the scrub is quite good. It has the salt like particles which make up the most content. It has tiny pink bead like granules and there is a certain amount of oil in it as well. It’s also sort of held together by the oil and isn’t a loose scrub.
When you apply it, it doesn’t feel drying at all. The scrub...
One of Lakme’s best launches this year was the 9 to 5 Stylist range meant for office going peeps. The Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lip Color are a range of matte lipsticks in the nude, browns, pinks and red realm of colours.
Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lip Color in Coffee Command is a really pretty peachy brown shade. It might seem like a MLBB shade for Indian skintones and pigmented lips, but it’s a tad bit more peachy. This is the first MLBB shade I have which doesn’t have a hint of pink. The peachy tone looks gorgeous on warmer skintones though.
This is very pigmented and creamy. One swipe is good enough. There’s also no shimmer, some of the 9 to 5 shades do though.
I like the...
The word sprinkles just makes me feel happy. Over cakes, over cupcakes, over ice cream. Heck, I’d just sell icing and sprinkles if I ever opened a shop! That’s pretty much what this nail polish feels like. Your nails looks like they’re covered in sprinkles and you just want to eat them!
This isn’t the most mature nail polish, I’ll admit that. But it’s cute nonetheless. Nails Inc Special Effects Sprinkles is a range of glittery polishes. Although “sprinkles” might lead you to believe that it’s chunky or 3d, it’s not, just round shaped glitter unlike caviar nails which are tiny tiny sprinkle like balls.
The shade Sweets Way is a mix...
Hope you all had a great Christmas! I was out all day but I ate a lot of cake at the end of the day! ^_^
I love brushes from Sigma but I never really looked into their makeup products. The Creme De Couture collection came out and I was sold. This is one of the three blushes from the collection. You can see rest of the collection and swatches here.
The blush Cherry Apple is a really flattering peachy pink shade. On the pan it looks more like a deep coral pink but when you swatch it, the colour is a tinge lighter. Out of the three blushes, this one suits me the most and is definitely flattering on all skin tones.
It’s a matte powder blush but it gives a very natural flush and the...
I’ve never really used anything from Jordana and I was gifted this eye pencil. Always a good way to try a new brand!
I feel like Jordana is pretty similar to Milani but a bit cheaper. A lot of their products look the same this one is very similar overall to the Milani Easyliners. Ofcourse, the only difference is that this one is only $1.99!
Jordana Easyliner For Eyes in Denim Blue is a dark blue colour. It has a black base and is unlike many other dark blues which are navy and have a green base. I’d also describe it as a sapphire blue. But they do have 3 or 4 more blues in this range if you prefer others!
It’s very creamy and applies with ease, glides smoothly over the...
So here’s part 2 of my guilty purchase. I recently reviewed Mac All Fired Up and this one was purchased as well. Overall, quality wise they are pretty similar.
Mac Flat Out Fabulous belongs to the Retro Matte finish of Mac lipsticks. It came out this year and is now permanent. This colour is so so pretty. I love it more than All Fired Up to be honest. It’s a very very deep fuchsia. It is bright, but not neon. It’s very cool toned pink and excuse the pun, looks fabulous!!
As I mentioned in the other review, you really need good lips to carry this off. Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize well before you put them on. The moisturiser also needs to be well settled and absorbed...
Sometimes you want things out of pure materialistic tendencies and I while I strongly advocate curbing them, I do slip up at times!
Such is the story behind my purchase of the Mac Retro Matte lipsticks. On paper it’s a complete mismatch for me. For one, I prefer creamy hydrating lipsticks, my most used colours are nude ones, matte lipsticks would only make my lips drier and the wear less comfortable. But I caved in for the prettiness. Ended up buying All Fired Up and Flat Out Fabulous.
Guilty conscience aside, it really is a gorgeous colour. And I thought Ruby Woo was a great staple bright to buy. All Fired Up with it’s pinky undertone is far more pretty. All Fired Up is a...
If you’re bored with the usual colours and want something different, you might want to consider Essie The More The Merrier. This came out with the Naughty Nautical collection.
I’d describe it has a chartreuse leaning more towards yellow. Or just a lime shade if you prefer. I wouldn’t call it a pastel shade but it’s not very bright either. There are lots of similar polishes though with slight variations in brightness like China Glaze Def Defying, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, OPI Did It On Em and Revlon Sassy.
It’s a creme polish but I found the consistency to be thicker than some of the other Essie creme onesI’ve tried. It makes the application a...
I really liked the last Kerastase shampoo I tried but I wanted something cheaper. I scoured the web till I found this. I honestly don’t know how to pronounce this without butchering it but it’s the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Volume Boost Shampoo.
It’s a transparent gel shampoo, very different consistency than most. It lathers well and is very mild. It doesn’t dry out my hair a lot and even in winters works well for me. It has a light floral scent which is very nice and pleasant.
I don’t notice a significant “boost” in volume but in general my hair has been more healthy and less prone to breakage and hair fall. It’s also very mild but still...
If anyone made a Revlon lip butter rehab, I’d be the first one to sign up. Clearly I have a problem. But fortunately, this the last one I own and to be reviewed!
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya was released along with Wild Watermelon and was a very unlikely pick for me. It’s a very light peachy pink, leaning more on the peachy side. Compared to the swatch or tube colour, this looks quite different on my lips but I love it. It translates as a very warm light pink which surprisingly doesn’t wash me out! I feel like the name always perfectly describe the shade with lip butters.
This one is sheer and although you can’t build it up to a completely opaque...
The very first lip gloss I bought was from Clarins, it was a lovely nude colour, a much opaque version of this one.
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (seriously, what’s with the absurdly long name) is a sheer lip gloss. These are meant to be very hydrating and give a wash of colour to give a natural but enhanced look. This comes in six shades, all of them are very sheer. Rosewood Shimmer is one of the two nudes in the range and probably the more pigmented one at that. I really really love this colour. It’s a rosy brown shade with very minute shimmer. The shimmer is really very subtle and you can’t tell unless you observe closely.
My bare lips tend to go purply at...
