Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more

Resort 2015 : Part Two

The resort collections are pouring in! Here are a few more edited down versions of the collections themselves. You can view the previous post on Resort 2015 here. Missoni It's more than your average "active wear" collection. The Missoni print definitely enhances the appeal. With light knits and lurex, the collection features more comfortable clothing in bright pastel shades. One of the later looks with the indigo blue gown is stunning; perfection in simplicity. I also really like the colourful leopard print. DKNY Preppy and functional. A large portion of this vast collection…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : DKNY, Jonathan Simkhai and Custo Barcelona

Fall 2014 RTW : DKNY, Jonathan Simkhai and Custo Barcelona

More fabulous fall collections from New York Fashion Week. This time round, it's DKNY, Jonathan Simkhai and Custo Barcelona!     DKNY It was a more inclusive show features real New Yorkers, very individual personalities on display but all wearing DKNY. You see the irony? Oh well, I love the fur used, the black coat and the little skirt. It adds more chic-ness to a edgy collection. I also love the way plaid and houndstooth patterns have been used, that blue coat is a stunner!   Jonathan Simkhai Midriffs isn't a new trend…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Yigal Azrouel, Derek Lam and DKNY

Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week : Yigal Azrouel, Derek Lam and DKNY We have slightly more relaxed and edgy collections from Yigal Azrouel and Derek Lam while DKNY has a Sex and the City moment.   Yigal Azrouel This collection just can't be faulted for its aesthetics. It has that ease of looking sophisticated which designers dream of. There is that crispness in the tailoring and yet the perforated material and perfect body hugging fit that makes it sensual. The dresses in this collection are very modern and wearable. Derek…Read more
Resort 2014 : Elie Tahari, DKNY and Burberry Prorsum

Resort 2014 : Elie Tahari, DKNY and Burberry Prorsum

I'm desperate to catch up on the resort collections but I have no time. I might resort (oh dear, bad pun) to posting only the ones that I really like. For now, I'll review Elie Tahari, DKNY and Burberry Prorsum.   Elie Tahari Elie Tahari has a collection of basics played up and down with edgier and on trend pieces. The sleek tapered pants, waterfall cardigan which falls beautifully and clean cut blazers give a very polished look. More relevant and exciting are the leather skirts and graphic abstract pieces. I adore the…Read more

Fall 2013 RTW : Lisa Perry, Veronica Beard and DKNY

There's a few more favourites from New York Fashion Week. Lisa Perry in particular has a fabulous candy like collection.   Lisa Perry Lisa Perry's collection is so bright and modern. That ultramarine violet shade is amazingly bright. I want that nail colour! But I find the silhouetes very graceful and feminine. The oversize white and large polka dot coat is particularly interesting. They all seem very well fitted and tailored well. The collection, after its pop of colour and fun turns to black and white but still keeps things interesting with the…Read more

Spring 2013 RTW : DKNY

The DKNY collection, inspired by the city no doubt has a very street, urban and army palette incorporated. You ahve posh fromal separates and edgier athletic designs together. I love the mesh shoulder panels and the solid coloured dresses. Inspired by cabs, the yellow and black ¬†go well together. The denim shirt with the white skirt is so classic, it looks very modern though. I am sort of over denim shirts but this look makes it very upscale. I love the swimwear and the tan leather dress as well. I like the simplicity.…Read more

Resort 2013: DKNY

DKNY's Resort collection has an understated¬†elegance to it. From sheer black blouses to the sequined skirt, each piece has a slight edge to it and yet looks very polished. I really liked the black and white floral sheer shirt and I loved the silver capped shoes at the end. There may not be much that's undiscovered in terms of fashion but this collection simply recycled the current trends gave them a fresh look.                                   Image Credit :…Read more
