Fall 2012 RTW Reem Acra

Fall 2012 RTW Reem Acra

Just one word will suffice. Glamourous. The sight of glitter, sequins and shiny things makes me happy! Reem Acra’s collection starts with simple and extremely well fitted skirt suits and dresses. Combinations of leather and sequins make the dress unknowingly provocative. I absolutely loved the lace high neck top paired with sequin pants. the styling there is spot on. The combination of the two doesn’t clash at all. The bronze-grey suit was my favourite. The embellishments on it make it look really rich. We then descended to a 20′s esque dress which is loose fitting and has a dropped waist. The evening wear in this collection sin’t my favourite, but not bad either. I...

Fall 2012 RTW Kenzo

Fall 2012 RTW Kenzo

Frankly, I’m excited to see the colour and madness that Kenzo offers every season. This collection is no different! A big trend here are skater dresses and oversize sleeves. These are repeated in every fabric thats on show. I read in the interview that this collection is inspired by interiors. By that virtue, we have carpets, wallpaper, marble, tiles and laminates! But the feminine cuts and patterns keep this collection interesting. The 4th printed dress looks very classy, as does the brown/taupe skater dress. Satin jumpsuits in bright colours  are one of the starts of this collection. The printed coats aren’t very unique in my opinion, but they give a collection a...

Fall 2012 RTW Christian Dior

Dior’s Fall collection left me a bit uninspired to be honest. The dresses were simple yet flowy and honed on how one should feel when its srping. But there was little that wowed me with the possible exception of Ajak’s Navy Blue dress with the oversized bow and handwork across the neck. The outfits aimed at drawing attention to the neck with its wide twist opening and the waist with the peplums and flared skirts. The palette for the most part seemed subdued in blacks, taupes and greys. Towards the end of the collection begin the glamour that I associate Dior with. Overall, this collection wasn’t bad but nothing surprised me or had me excited. Fall 2012 RTW Christian...

Fall 2012 RTW Dries Van Noten

This collection is very sleek and visually interesting prints. The silk patterns,  bright colours blocked against black and white, its a very different aesthetic this season. The silhouettes are kimono style and minimalistic with asymmetric design. I just love how bright the patterns are.   Fall 2012 RTW Dries Van Noten   Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Alberta Ferretti

Ferretti’s collection is sublime. The silhouttes are body hugging and look like second skin and very light. I love the chiffon and sheer material with all the embroidery. The dresses have clean cuts and the floral handiwork around it. It’s a nice design contrast. The gowns are so beautiful and flowy! I love the collection! Fall 2012 RTW Jil Sander

I’m so sad to see Raf Simmons leave Jil Sander. This was such an elegant and just pretty collection. I know I say a lot that I hate ill-proportioned and oversized clothes. But this was the text book of how oversized clothing can look graceful and feminine. That big red coat is going to be sold out! The pink and beige satin dress has a 20′s vibe to it. The collection looked timeless. It represents the soft and pretty side of winter. The nude/pastel dresses look very elegant. The coats and dresses paired together bring a well put and complete look. Then show them turns brighter and bolder with strong colours, no doubt a fall favourite. The dresses also became more edgy with split...

Fall 2012 RTW Miu Miu

Miu Miu has suited up this fall. Beautiful pantsuits in silk. The patterns are vibrant and eye catching. This collection adds so much warmth to the fall season. I don’t particularly like the silhoutettes of the suits. But no doubt these pieces when worn together or as separates aim to get attention. I like the deep toned magenta and purple print. These would look so good with gold jewellery. The shoes are a brogue and wedge combined style.   Fall 2012 RTW Miu Miu     Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Mulberry

In my opinion, this wasn’t a stellar show. I clothes and prints were average and it seemed all over the place. It seems lacklustre compared to the previous seasons. The bags will no doubt be a hit but I’m not too impressed with the clothes. The colourful splat print doesn’t look unique or expensive (unlike the price tag). The silhouettes were simple with pencil skirts and large coats. Fall 2012 RTW Mulberry       Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Alexander McQueen

Poodle. Cousin It. Lady Gaga. Whooa… what?? Reading comments for this collection was a fun fest. I will begin by saying this. There are some collections which more art than they are clothing. I’m not biased but if the art isn’t good and neither is the clothing, its pointless. So now, I can’t imagine how anyone didn’t like this collection. Sure, its eccentric. Its McQueen. But you can’t not stare and wonder at how all this was made and not notice the beauty in the collection. I’ll start with the shoes. How adorable and comfy do they look? I want them! The like the straps it has. The jacquard white coats looked elegant and there might only be a few...

Fall 2012 RTW Burberry Prorsum

This season’s Burberry is poised to reflect on austerity, an old vibe and bows. Bag utilitarian pockets, peplums are all in sync but the traditional fall colours such as navy,  camel, and greys.  Some of the looks are bold with structural skirts. But one thing just didn’t sit with me well; the owls. I loved the whole owl trend, they’re cute. But isn’t it over? I don’t think I can take more owl’s for another season, especially because they are stylized the same way! I didn’t find this collection as memorable as the previous one. The grey gathered coat with the belt looks amazing along with the grey and pink floral peplum dress. But other than that,...

Fall 2012 RTW Jason Wu

Jason Wu’s inspiration for this fall was China. All sides to the multi-dimensional country. Wu incorporated different aesthetics for reflect these visions and it all looks seamless. The dresses look modern, sophisticated and clean cut. The curved piping gives a curvy illusion and looks very flattering. I love most fo the outfits I’ve posts. The military jackets paired with a vetvet drapey skirt looks so chic. The colour palette has navys, burgundys, orange, red. I like how it all comes together in this collection. I also like the fur opn the collar, it looks very luxe. The embroidered jackets and sheer skirts looks very sharp and impressive. There are many wearble separates in...

Fall 2012 RTW Gucci

Gucci’s collection this fall is dark but elegent. Velvets, sheer, bright florals masked by the dark dresses, flowy silhouttes; it all seems almost romantic. But some pieces also have an edge to it with military and oversize coats. The later half of the collection is just stunning. The bright velvert dresses and the ethereal black ones. They are so beautifully adorned with the floral shapes. The cuts are slighly provocative, it is Gucci afterall but it still maintains elegance and beauty. The billowy sleeves and capes add a touch of whimsy. The large florals seems a real trend now, I’m seeing it everywhere. Fall 2012 RTW Gucci         Image Credit :...

Fall 2012 RTW : Chanel

Fall 2012 RTW : Chanel

Crystals were a big part of the Chanel show. The trims and tweed all had crystals embedded in them. Trousers, skirts and jackets was a recurring theme. How can you ignore the beaded eyebrows? It looks stunning! I wouldn’t say this was the best collection. But as always Karl managed to keep the classic Chanel-esque shapes with a twist in its fabric and details. I liked the crystal and feather details on the shoulders. One of my favourites was the teal green outfit with the midlength and long sleeves. It looks classic yet modern. Then, came more funky and interesting styles with circles and triangles. I liked the sheer skirts over trousers and the metallic electric blue jacket. This...

Fall 2012 RTW : Anna Sui

Anna Sui’s aesthetic is so vibrant and an explosion of colours, its one of the collections I’m always eager to see. I loved the blue-green-cerulean combinations. The floral blouses with peter pan collars, thick ruffle trims. And the owls are so adorable! The round sunglasses complimented the retro vibe. I also liked all the accessories and stament jewellery. Somehow, I feel that coloured tights still need to be in and I was happy to see that as a part of the collection here. I so want the belt on the opening look along with that skirt. There are a lot of large print florals over dark colours this season and this particular one is just cute. Some of the prints are very whimsical...

Fall 2012 RTW : Givenchy

Givenchy this season is quite dark. The make up is so severe, I had to look away! But this collection has blazers and jackets in great cuts retaining peplums and a sharp look. I liked the red and black lace and silk attires. They had a clash of tough and soft in it. The quilted black leather pants with that soft and flowy kimono blouse reflected that exact sentiment; as did the satin dresses with the thick belt. But the last few pieces of the collection is what I thought was the best work. The red sheer kimono sleeve dress paired with boots was very chic. This collection didn’t blow my mind away but it had a few showstoppers. Fall 2012 RTW Givenchy   Image Credit :...
