Fall 2014 RTW : Prabal Gurung, Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne

Fall 2014 RTW : Prabal Gurung, Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne

More fall collections at New York Fashion Week. Prabal Gurung's collection is stellar but Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne also made their mark.   Prabal Gurung Like most designers, Parabal Gurung takes inspiration from his travels. This time it's Nepal and the kingdom of Mustang. You can see the reference in the heavy layering that distinct shade of red. It's dark but not vampy, it has that recognizable Himalayan feel to it. The collection is quite top heavy with jumpers, cardigans, turtlenecks all layered but only flowing chiffon skirts at the bottom. There's…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Helmut Lang, Suno and Ruffian

Fall 2014 RTW : Helmut Lang, Suno and Ruffian

Another New York Fashion Week post. I really like Ruffian's collection. Helmut Lang has a lot more colour this season.   Helmut Lang This season Helmut Lang has shed monochrome in return for contrast. I love his pairings of outerwear with bright accessories. The fire print is a new direction as well, I find it too literal though. I much prefer the camel coat over burning orange boots. Suno It's hard to pinpoint the inspiration but it is a story showcasing rags to riches. You start off with dull colours like grey and…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Rag & Bone, Nicole Miller and Charlotte Ronson

Fall 2014 RTW : Rag & Bone, Nicole Miller and Charlotte Ronson

A landslide of shows at new York Fashion Week. Reviewing collections from Rag & Bone, Nicole Miller and Charlotte Ronson.   Rag & Bone It was a different palette of fall colours at the Rag&Bone show. I loved the eggshell colour in combination with brown and grey. The chunky knits have such a cozy feel to it. I'm not too thrilled with the dresses with the trousers in the collection look really good. Shoes are also a big pull and while I didn't like the knee high ones, the two tone ankle boots…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Sally LaPointe, Rebecca Minkoff and Cushnie Et Ochs

Fall 2014 RTW : Sally LaPointe, Rebecca Minkoff and Cushnie Et Ochs

A New York Fashion Week post again with collections from Sally LaPointe, Rebecca Minkoff and the duo from Cushnie Et Ochs.     Sally LaPointe She took it to another level and in some ways has cemented her presence in NYFW with this extremely focused and refined collection. It feels much more luxe and rich than any of her previous work. It's winning a lot of praise for sheer wearability and style. I love the little lobster clasp belt with the floating top and cinched in waist, such a flattering silhouette. It's a…Read more

Fall 2014 RTW : Jason Wu, Kate Spade New York and Tess Giberson

Hey guys! Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was mostly spent in bed coughing madly since I have flu. It's maddening!! Anyway, here's more from New York Fashion Week with collections from Jason Wu, Tess Giberson and Kate Spade.   Jason Wu This collection is so sharp and sophisticated, it's a big hit! There's this androgyny to it and a blend of so called masculine and feminine silhouettes. From to suits to well tailored dresses, I think everyone irrespective of aesthetic and personal style are likely to find something amazing here.…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Erin Fetherstone, Araks and Tanya Taylor

Fall 2014 RTW : Erin Fetherstone, Araks and Tanya Taylor

New York Fashion Week continues with on trend collections like Erin Fetherstone, Araks and Tanya Taylor! With the onslaught of 10-15 shows a day, It's becoming difficult to keep up now!   Erin Fetherstone I'm not too enthralled with the "Charmed, I'm sure" use but I do like the navy and lime combination of lace! The gown in the face fabrics is utterly gorgeous! I think design wise there is nothing new in these but they are readily wearable clothes that are well made. The black gown at the end is also quite…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Tadashi Shoji, Costello Tagliapietra and Tome

Fall 2014 RTW : Tadashi Shoji, Costello Tagliapietra and Tome

Dying at the fabulousness of these collections. More from New York Fashion Week with Tadashi Shoji,┬áCostello Tagliapietra and Tome.     Tadashi Shoji It's just too gorgeous for words. The cut work looks so amazing and I love how intricate it is. The initial red dress is stunning, I want it!! The very regal red and black cape with the white gown is a winner. I also like the organza floral gown. The lace gowns are nothing new but gorgeous all the same. Overall, it's just a collection that everyone will love.  …Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai Love and Creatures of the Wind

Fall 2014 RTW : BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai Love and Creatures of the Wind

I feel a bit underwhelmed by this trio of collections but they do have very unique looks for this fall.   BCBG Max Azria I was all about the comfy poncho, which oddly looks like something you'd wear on a beach, were it made of lighter material, but it's for fall! I love the use of black and white with the stripes. The length of skirts and other pieces have increased and there's a lot of layering involved in this collection. The outerwear is slightly oversize; that one long coat in camel is…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Lisa Perry, Veronica Beard and Tia Cibani

Fall 2014 RTW : Lisa Perry, Veronica Beard and Tia Cibani

Here are a couple more collections from New York Fashion Week, I think I'm reviewing Tia Cibani for the first time. Lisa Perry and Veronica Beard have great separates in general.       Lisa Perry I can think of a dozen terrible puns to describe this a-MAZE-ing collection! Ok, I'll stop. Lisa Perry always brings out the bright colours and fall is no different! Inspired by the geometric patterns, spaces and lines, the collection uses them in silhouettes and pattern. I also like how seams have been used to create shapes and…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Rachel Roy, Josie Natori and Gary Graham

Fall 2014 RTW : Rachel Roy, Josie Natori and Gary Graham

Fashion Week is here! There are hardly any (good) shows at Lincoln Center this year though! New York FW opens up here with collections from Rachel Roy, Josie Natori and Gary Graham!   Rachel Roy Somehow monochrome makes such a lasting impact when its editorial, but in real life it just doesn't have the same flair. I think Rachel Roy's collection is brilliant. It's updated and modernised a lot of trends over the past years in a wearable way. It's also very edgy in the way it mixes florals and lace with hard…Read more
