To be very honest, I don’t always follow the seasonal trends when it comes to nail polish. My mood and what catches my eye pretty much dictates what I’m wearing at the moment. But for those who do, here are my top 10 picks for spring and summer!
I like blues, greens and this year, the radiant orchid shade as well. Let’s get started!
01. H&M Newlyweds – This is a lovely sheer polish which has a milky white base and gold shimmer densely scattered. It looks very understated and beautiful!
02. Formula X for Sephora Standout – Possibly the only baby pink colour I have but it makes a good nude shade as well.
03. Zoya Perrie – This is...
Today I’m bringing you yet another nail polish that is utterly gorgeous. But not the best buy for the price though. I saw it for the first time on this blog and I just had to have it!
It’s part of the Mini Nail Polish line which are these tiny cute polish bottles. I lot of them are gorgeous complex shades including shimmers and duochromes.
Anyway, I’ll get down to business. Fantasy Fire is a layering sheer polish with a MAJOR duochrome shift. It’s a blue-indigo base with shimmer that shifts from orange to green. It’s quite thin and not really meant to be worn on its own. It’ll take way too many coats to get it opaque and with such a tiny bottle (and...
I’ve said this before, it’s a galaxy in a bottle. I first came across this nail polish on Karen’s blog and I was blown away. I knew I had to have it.
I scoured the net for it and finally managed to pick it up when I was abroad. I was a bit concerned because it costs 27 freaking dollars and I don’t rate other Chanel nail polishes that highly. The cream formulas in general just seem very streaky. But luckily, this one turned out to be quite good.
I’m not sure what collection this is a part of but Taboo is a shimmer polish in a darkened purple base. Suspended in that you have bright blue, bronze and red violet shimmer. I think it looks a lot more red based in the...
Hey guys! I had a very hectic week and now I’m just looking forward to relaxing and blogging this weekend!
Also, Happy Women’s Day! At the very least we get to enjoy sales on this Saturday. I did a tiny bit of shopping on FeelUnique since they’re having 15% discount store wide! ^_^
Rimmel have a nice range of moderately priced nail polishes. This one is from the 60 Seconds line and called Coral Crush. It’s a really nice colour for summer!
As the name suggests, Coral Crush is a mix of pink and orange, a good coral shade. It feels slightly duochrome as it shifts between a few shades of orange and pink depending on the lighting. It’s also a bit pearlescent which...
Hey guys! This week is just not ending! I want Saturday to be here already!
Here is another pretty nail polish with a less an impressive formula. It’s another one of the Formula X for Sephora ones. Standout is from the New Neutrals range and is a creamy and pearlescent finish.
Standout is a lovely light nude shade. I wouldn’t call this a baby pink, but it is a very pale warm pink. It’s the perfect manicure colour! I’m surprised I don’t have anything like, its a very dupeable shade.
It’s a cream polish but it has white pearlescent bits in it as well. It’s very noticeable in the bottle but doesn’t really show up on the nail.
I’ve had a mad week recovering from a cough but things are slowly getting back to normal. I feel like this month went by in a flash! That aside, here’s another nail polish from the Formula X for Sephora range.
Orbit is a true navy blue and one from the New Classics or cream finish range. It’s on the darker side but a gorgeous staple kind of shade. But I’m not too impressed with the quality, especially at the price.
It’s thick consistency wise and that makes application a bit more tedious. It can go on a bit streaky and mine came with a part of the brush sticking out. It can also apply unevenly so you need two thick coats to get it to look even. On a smaller...
From my shamefully large nail polish collection, there was one shade missing until now, gold. I was so eager to try Formula X for Sephora, they really do have amazing polishes in different finishes. The various glitter ones are really worth a look!
Formula X for Sephora in Bond, Iconic Bond comes from the Lusters range. I suppose they are sheer to medium glitter polishes that can achieve a full coverage. Well, atleast this one can! Bond Iconic Bond is that perfect gold which isn’t too yellow nor too light. It has shimmer and multi size glitter which looks amazing!
I’m very impressed with the quality of this one. The consistency is thin and the polish is slightly sheer, you get...
Hey guys! I’m in Jaipur at the moment for the Jaipur Literature Festival. Looking forward to todays session by Amartya Sen, it’s going to be an eventful day!
Essie For the Twill Of It is from it’s collection of the same name. Came out this fall and I just loved it after seeing swatches on other blogs.
I bought this last month and I’ve been loving it a lot!
Essie For The Twill Of It is a metallic colour shifting nail polish. The base colour is a murky brown shade but it appears more grey. Also, depending on the light, it will shift between a pink, mauve, gray and teal shade. It’s an exact dupe of OPI Peace & Love & OPI. (comparison here.)
It has a...
Hello! I’m back with another Just Swatches post! This time it’s my beloved Zoya nail polishes!
I think Valerie and Robyn were among the first ones I bought, fell in love with the formula and you can see what happened then!
If I had to pick favourites from this lot it would be Valerie, Alegra, Trixie and now even Perrie. This years Pantone Colour of the year is Radiant Orchid and I think Perrie is an exact match. It’s smack in the middle of that purple pink range, gorgeous colour!
Kristin – It’s a deep red creme polish. A good staple red but you can find similar cheaper shades as well. Not very unique.
Lisa – This one is a warmer red with tons of red and...
Revlon nail polishes never really caught my eye until they started coming up with dupes for Deborah Lipmann polishes! More on that later but for now, I’m reviewing the shade Naughty.
Naughty is a dark purple and charcoal grey duochrome polish. It also has very fine purple microshimmer which can be detected under direct light. It does look slightly pearlescent as well. However, the duochrome is subtle and not very stark like some other shades. Even so, you get a nice effect of purple in the middle and gray on the sides.
The polish is very pigmented and creamy. You need one or two coats for an opaque look. They also apply evenly and there’s not streakiness or bubbling. I’m...
The word sprinkles just makes me feel happy. Over cakes, over cupcakes, over ice cream. Heck, I’d just sell icing and sprinkles if I ever opened a shop! That’s pretty much what this nail polish feels like. Your nails looks like they’re covered in sprinkles and you just want to eat them!
This isn’t the most mature nail polish, I’ll admit that. But it’s cute nonetheless. Nails Inc Special Effects Sprinkles is a range of glittery polishes. Although “sprinkles” might lead you to believe that it’s chunky or 3d, it’s not, just round shaped glitter unlike caviar nails which are tiny tiny sprinkle like balls.
The shade Sweets Way is a mix...
I did a bit a of a Kleancolor and Nyx haul from eBay where I bought a set of Kleancolor mini nail polishes. It was so cheap, like $10 for 6 bottles, why not?!
Firstly, I’ve tried different types of Kleancolor nail polishes and honestly, I don’t like the quality. The smell is way too strong for me, very chemical and toxic like. I honestly never wear this on my fingers, only toes because it just feels uncomfortable on my nails.
Also, the consistency most of the times is very heavy and gloopy!
That said, this is one colour that performs well and is really pretty! Kleancolor Vegas Night is a mix of bright blue and purple glitter in a blue jelly base. The blue glitter is more round...
Muted pinks and purples are another favourite of mine. I feel like this pink is great to wear for office as well. It’s the Chambor nail polish in the shade Cashmere.
The name Cashmere has a nice ring to it and the colour feels very luxe as well. It’s creme polish in a muted dusty pink colour. In the spectrum of rosy pinks this one is warm and medium toned, not too light nor too dark. I’m in love with this colour! Looks very feminine and sophisticated. I feel like it would suit all skintones.
I’m not too happy about the quality though. It applies well enough but you really have to measure how much product you are taking onto the brush. The consistency is thicker for a...
If you’re bored with the usual colours and want something different, you might want to consider Essie The More The Merrier. This came out with the Naughty Nautical collection.
I’d describe it has a chartreuse leaning more towards yellow. Or just a lime shade if you prefer. I wouldn’t call it a pastel shade but it’s not very bright either. There are lots of similar polishes though with slight variations in brightness like China Glaze Def Defying, China Glaze Electric Pineapple, OPI Did It On Em and Revlon Sassy.
It’s a creme polish but I found the consistency to be thicker than some of the other Essie creme onesI’ve tried. It makes the application a...
When I was doing my Top 10 Fall nail polishes post I realised I actually haven’t reviewed most of them! It’s mostly because with nail polish my “schedule” is very haphazard!
Anyway, today I’m reviewing OPI Ink, a blurple you must have! In the bottle I think this definitely leans more towards blue but when you apply it, the base shade is a dark purple and you have blue, purple and even a bit of fuchsia microshimmer all over. It’s very complex and pretty, the kind where you will like staring at your nails all day!
You can also see a mild yellow duochrome thing going on in the bottle but it isn’t really visible on the nail. It can at times looks like...
