My final collection post for New York fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready to Wear! I’ll be closing this with Beautiful collections from Erin Fetherston, Narciso Rodriguez amd Proenza Schouler.
Erin Fetherston makes gorgeous dresses and one can never have too many of them. I love the metallic foil like material used. It always carries a grungey look to it. The olive one with the cinched in waist and black band is simple and beautiful. The navy teal dress with panels and a softer layered skirt is very feminine and pretty. Overall, every piece in this collection is very much...
As New York Fashion Week came to a close, Philosophy, Red Valentino and Rachel Roy sought to place their mark on an already remarkable fall season.
I personally felt that this collection was a bit lacklustre. Maybe it was just the colours that i didn’t really identify with. Or the patterns that seemed too 90′s. Well, that notion was dismissed soon enough when the graphic bright prints and outwear was presented. I love the dainty and lady like white coat and the bright peplum top. I also love the sheer paneled dresses. It’s a wearable collection with that punch of colour and...
Calvin Klein Collection
The Calvin Klein Collection has it’s signature clean aesthetic. The waist was emphasized with a thinner belt but large buckle. i’m not too sure I liked that on every single look. The outerwear in this collection is superb with the broad sharp shoulders. The leather mix outfits looked great as well. The collection had typical fall palette of navy’s, forest greens and black. A bit more variety would have been nice. That said, I absolutely love the teal dress with the pleated cut out skirt. It’s the most jovial and youthful...
Rodarte going dark and bright, Anna Sui’s distinctive boho side persisted and Ralph Lauren showed the classic look, all at New York Fashion Week 2013.
Rodarte’s collection started with a series of dark pieces, it set quite a different tone and I’m sure people were struck with the acid bright colours that came to light! That said, the separates in this collection are well designed. I love the peach coat with the white studs and the heavily embellished scarf like dress. The acid dye dresses with the embroidery on the top looked great. This is a collection that had a lot of shock value and certainly surprised the...
Fashion 2013 RTW :
Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta’s collection had a sense of high fashion when it started. The sleek silhouettes and hats had a very classic look about them. The collection had brilliant statement pieces. The chartreuse blouse with the printed skirt looked magnificent. With a more classic approach, the gowns with that beautiful draping are worthy of any red carpet. I loved the finale purple gown in that intense colour. I have to say though, I hated the hair and...
Nanette Lepore has an interesting Mars and Earth theme while Rachel Zoe has an equestrian collection. New York Fashion Week with these two powerhouses looked splendid along with J. Mendel’s chic collection.
Nanette Lepore explored what it would be like if living on Mars wasn’t a distant dream, but a reality. The result, is quite staggering. Using colours and patterns to symbolize Mars and earth, the slightly space themed collection was anything but distant. The style was from the future but the silhouettes on par with today’s modern outtake. I love the iridescent work with the black. Earthy colours had more blue in them and the army like pattern looked...
The collections of Elie Tahari, Bibhu Mohapatra and Michael Kors for New York Fashion Week feel more on the casual side.
Elie Tahari had a very modern collection channelling metallics, graphic abstract prints in beautiful silhouettes. I love the opening metallic blue dress with the pleats. The printed long jacket with the satin borders looks very elegant. The brown leather and chain dress is also very flattering.
Bibhu Mohapatra’s collection used...
With Jenny Packham, Naeem Khan and Dennis Basso in the line up for this post, these might not be the most wearable collections. Almost exclusively for red carpets, these are collection worth note though.
Taylor Swift comes to mind whenever you hear of Jenny Packham, or any other celebrity for that matter. This designer has made her place and Hollywood and the clothes are equally glamorous. I love the red gowns in this collection. That particular shade of red is so intense! I love the floor length gown with the sequins as well as the prom like red dress. The dirty peach and silver sequin dress looks duochrome in appearance. It’s a very interesting effect. Finally,...
J. Crew brings Morrocan culture into a sleek collection, Badgley Mischka owns the red carpet dresses and Vera Wang gets more feminine and plays with volume. These three at New York Fashion Week have diverse but coveted collections.
This collection has very clean cut separates in staple fall colours such as burgundy, navy, plums and also soft pinks. I love the embellished blue shirt with the blue and orange floral shorts. The intricate design work in the pieces is beautiful. J. Crew has really stepped it up this...
Inspired by Japanese embroidery, Reem Acra’s collection fits well into fall but also ties in what the designer does best. The opening cocktail dress with the bright red embroidery is gorgeous. The cocktail dresses are a smash but you are left breathless with you see the sheer beaded gowns. They catch your eye and anyone with a soft spot for sparkly things (like me) is instantly happy! The finale gowns with the large tulle are gorgeous as...
Pamella Roland’s collection is drop dead gorgeous! The focus on well fitted clothes with leather and embroidered extravagance is beautiful. The sunset print feels a bit out of place, but looks beautiful nonetheless. The love the opening outfit with the peplum leather top. It said the tone for the show. The grey dress with a side knot and leather piping is stunning. When the collection adding more colour with plums and olive greens, it looked more lively! The finale gowns with the feather boleros and wide necks looks so classy. I love that...
The Olsen twin’s The Row has a very clean sophistication to it, ICB debuted with a good mix of different trends. And then we arrive at Carolina Herrera’s collection which is simple and elegant. New York Fashion Week didn’t look any better.
On first glance, the collection seems to have a military look to it, with navys, deep greens and a strong silhouette. When you delve further you see a softer side. The outerwear is well tailored and would be a high selling point. The dresses in this collection have a lot of intricate detail and look very lean and comfortable. The collection is very...
Belstaff, Barbara Tfank and Ohne Titel chronicled the tough edgy look, a collection fit for the First Lady and the casual ease for the youth.
Belstaff in it’s recent collections has really impressed me. I love the two-tone blue and charcoal blazer. I love the maroon, navy and cream stripped dress. It’s very preppy and fun! Overall, this collection has a refined casual sense.
You can picture...
Cynthia Rowley, Zac Posen and Chado Ralph Rucci all bring their unique styles together here at New York Fashion Week for Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear.
Cynthia Rowley shows always have a cool grunge-y style to it. Lest you think it’s shabby, the clothes are anything but that. I suppose it’s a nice contrast and almost tells a story. Moving on, The waterpaint effect on that structured satin is beautiful. I don’t know how that material looks so perfect. I love the iridescent green pants and the finale dress with the bright criss cross...
Prints and style! This perfectly describes the collecitons of Tracy Reese, Thakooon and Diane von Furstenburg.
With a fun multicolour leopard print, the collection certainly started with a bang. The whole look had a casual ease to it. The collection had a mix of upscale and some mediocre looks, to be very honest. I loved the warm coloured floral mix jumpsuit. Again, the silhouette is very easy and casual. I loved those pieces in the collection. The boat neck velvet black dress with the gold belt felt out of place in commparison. But overall I think there was a lot of innovation in the casual pieces in this...
