Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Three

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Three

So I took a bit of a break from the fashion posts, but they're here to stay! New York Fashion Week is long gone and while a lot of collections failed to make a mark, The Row just floored everyone. ┬áHere are some of the collections. Alice + Olivia is a collection I always look forward to. I love the contemporary and influence of retro styles. The prints and laces dresses look amazing. Reem Acra's gowns are stunning with the metallic sheer gowns and embellishments. Zac Posen had a relatively modest collection with…Read more

Resort 2015 : Part One

The Resort 2015 collections are starting to trickle in, with the destination cruise collections like Chanel, Louis Vuitton releasing ahead of time. I'm following a new format for my runway fashion posts where I club 10-12 collections in one post. It will be image heavy! If you're looking for specific designers, try the tags. We start off with Dior!   Dior Set upon a cruise over the Hudson river, the collection felt very Dior-esque with its large but soft prints. The minimalism and cuts gave it more edge. I really love the sharp…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Elie Tahari, Pamella Roland and Oscar de la Renta

Fall 2014 RTW : Elie Tahari, Pamella Roland and Oscar de la Renta

A very varied mix of collections from Elie Tahari, Pamella Roland and Oscar de la Renta. They are stunning though! All from New York Fashion Week.   Elie Tahari It seems to capture every kind of dweller in New York. The clothes are very urban and wearable but some detail that makes it unique. I love the leather jackets and the green cape like coat. The tweed and leather mix dress is edgy and modern.     Pamella Roland There's an undeniable geometric aspect to the clothes. The shimmering silver sequin pants with…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors and Narciso Rodriguez

Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week: Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors and Narciso Rodriguez   Oscar De La Renta Oscar De La Renta had a well rounded collection that will certainly appeal to all his clients. There were lovely day dresses which looked timeless and smart. There were also more floral and opulent gowns and most people are buzzed about 'how Galliano' they are. I loved the polka dot suit with the lace trimmings. The voluminous gowns are stunning. Michael Kors It was the epitome of American activewear. With sweaters,…Read more
Resort 2014 : Oscar de la Renta, Just Cavalli and Moschino Cheap and Chic

Resort 2014 : Oscar de la Renta, Just Cavalli and Moschino Cheap and Chic

Many of the resort collections seem like an extension of spring and not all together different. Here, I'll be reviewing collections by Oscar de la Renta, Just Cavalli and Moschino Cheap and Chic. Oscar de la Renta Appliques, florals, volume; Oscar de la Renta's resort collection had all that and then some. The asymmetrical peplum is one distinct piece here and while difficult to pull off, it has certain appeal to it. The chartruese kimono style top and blue mermaid skirt seems a bit much but individually I think they are really great…Read more

Fashion 2013 RTW : Oscar de la Renta, Alice + Olivia and Carlos Miele

Fashion 2013 RTW : Oscar de la Renta Oscar de la Renta's collection had a sense of high fashion when it started. The sleek silhouettes and hats had a very classic look about them. The collection had brilliant statement pieces. The chartreuse blouse with the printed skirt looked magnificent. With a more classic approach, the gowns with that beautiful draping are worthy of any red carpet. I loved the finale purple gown in that intense colour. I have to say though, I hated the hair and makeup.   Alice + Olivia I always…Read more

Spring 2013 RTW : Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta! You tend to have high hopes from the big name designers and the collection certainly met my expectations! The gowns are ohenomenal. I love the cut of the gown and the intricate detailing with the sequins. The mint green is a very flattering colour. That and the pink go really well together, the jacket with that combination is beautiful. The large flower appliques look very elegant. There are also simpler dresses like the black gown the sheer panels. The collection has great colour palette, beautiful separates as well. Lace…Read more

Resort 2013 : Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta had a few hits and misses for me here. The entire resort collection seems like a hashed representation of everything. There were floral and abstract prints. The water coloured suits were very magnificent. But the gowns at the end stole the show. The green one gave the mermaid silhouette a new twist with its hard edged peplum. All pieces in the collection look amazing but it didn't wow me or inspire me.                                  …Read more
