WIFW Fall 2013 RTW : Day 5 : Nida Mahmood, Rehane and Manish Arora

The final day of Will’s Lifestyle India Fashion Week, Day 5 ended with collections from Nida Mahmood, Rehane and Manish Arora. Manish Arora had shown the same collection at Paris Fashion Week earlier in the month, but it was great to see the collection in India as well. Nida Mahmood An eccentric collection from Nida Mahmood featured symmteric prints, velvet trousers, two tone shirts and leather with studs! All separates in this collection are so beautiful and very wearable individually, at the very least. I love the yellow and blue handkerchief dress. The finale was a cool steam punk like gown with tablets telling the time. But I’m glad the avant garde was restricted to one...

Fall 2012 Couture : Chanel

Chanel resort collection is gorgeous.. There is so much detailing and richness of the design. I love the snoods, they make the overall appearance very chic. They were typical Chanel separates with a lot of detailing in the piping. I loved the pieces where there was that criss cross pattern. The finale dress with the feathers looks absolutely amazing and whimsical. The pants had a different silhouette altogether. They are like harem pants but not quite. ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2013 Couture : Versace

Versace’s couture collection was very well received and deservedly so. There was so much colour, feminine and sensual pieces there. They incorporated a lot of new fabrics and intricate work on the bodice as well. The opening blazer and skirt with the large belt was a knock out. It looks so simple and yet had so much detail it in. I loved the gowns with the tight bodice, slit open leg and layers and flowing trail. They all look gorgeous. Many of the gowns had cut outs with crystals covering them up. They looked like second skin. ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 Couture Bouchra Jarrar

Jarrar’s collection features some really polished separates. Almost work appropriate in some cases. But there some elegant evening wear too. I like silhouette of the trench. Very feminine. I also love the beaded top with the flare black pants. It’s very chic. The best in my opinion is the flower print white silk dress with the black underneath it. I like the effect it brings. ; ; Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 Couture Alexis Mabille

Alexis Mabille’s couture collection presented a fantasy of sorts. I could almost associate each piece with a fairy tale character. But my quirky observations aside, the collection certainly has a bold, strong and confident feel to it. I loved the metallic gowns with a duo chrome feel. I love the black dress with the keyhole cut neck with embellishment. The gowns with the lined cape look beautiful and mysterious. ; ; ; Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Kenzo

Fall 2012 RTW Kenzo

Frankly, I’m excited to see the colour and madness that Kenzo offers every season. This collection is no different! A big trend here are skater dresses and oversize sleeves. These are repeated in every fabric thats on show. I read in the interview that this collection is inspired by interiors. By that virtue, we have carpets, wallpaper, marble, tiles and laminates! But the feminine cuts and patterns keep this collection interesting. The 4th printed dress looks very classy, as does the brown/taupe skater dress. Satin jumpsuits in bright colours  are one of the starts of this collection. The printed coats aren’t very unique in my opinion, but they give a collection a...

Fall 2012 RTW Christian Dior

Dior’s Fall collection left me a bit uninspired to be honest. The dresses were simple yet flowy and honed on how one should feel when its srping. But there was little that wowed me with the possible exception of Ajak’s Navy Blue dress with the oversized bow and handwork across the neck. The outfits aimed at drawing attention to the neck with its wide twist opening and the waist with the peplums and flared skirts. The palette for the most part seemed subdued in blacks, taupes and greys. Towards the end of the collection begin the glamour that I associate Dior with. Overall, this collection wasn’t bad but nothing surprised me or had me excited. Fall 2012 RTW Christian...

Fall 2012 RTW Dries Van Noten

This collection is very sleek and visually interesting prints. The silk patterns,  bright colours blocked against black and white, its a very different aesthetic this season. The silhouettes are kimono style and minimalistic with asymmetric design. I just love how bright the patterns are.   Fall 2012 RTW Dries Van Noten   Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Miu Miu

Miu Miu has suited up this fall. Beautiful pantsuits in silk. The patterns are vibrant and eye catching. This collection adds so much warmth to the fall season. I don’t particularly like the silhoutettes of the suits. But no doubt these pieces when worn together or as separates aim to get attention. I like the deep toned magenta and purple print. These would look so good with gold jewellery. The shoes are a brogue and wedge combined style.   Fall 2012 RTW Miu Miu     Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW Alexander McQueen

Poodle. Cousin It. Lady Gaga. Whooa… what?? Reading comments for this collection was a fun fest. I will begin by saying this. There are some collections which more art than they are clothing. I’m not biased but if the art isn’t good and neither is the clothing, its pointless. So now, I can’t imagine how anyone didn’t like this collection. Sure, its eccentric. Its McQueen. But you can’t not stare and wonder at how all this was made and not notice the beauty in the collection. I’ll start with the shoes. How adorable and comfy do they look? I want them! The like the straps it has. The jacquard white coats looked elegant and there might only be a few...

Fall 2012 RTW : Chanel

Crystals were a big part of the Chanel show. The trims and tweed all had crystals embedded in them. Trousers, skirts and jackets was a recurring theme. How can you ignore the beaded eyebrows? It looks stunning! I wouldn’t say this was the best collection. But as always Karl managed to keep the classic Chanel-esque shapes with a twist in its fabric and details. I liked the crystal and feather details on the shoulders. One of my favourites was the teal green outfit with the midlength and long sleeves. It looks classic yet modern. Then, came more funky and interesting styles with circles and triangles. I liked the sheer skirts over trousers and the metallic electric blue jacket. This...

Fall 2012 RTW : Givenchy

Givenchy this season is quite dark. The make up is so severe, I had to look away! But this collection has blazers and jackets in great cuts retaining peplums and a sharp look. I liked the red and black lace and silk attires. They had a clash of tough and soft in it. The quilted black leather pants with that soft and flowy kimono blouse reflected that exact sentiment; as did the satin dresses with the thick belt. But the last few pieces of the collection is what I thought was the best work. The red sheer kimono sleeve dress paired with boots was very chic. This collection didn’t blow my mind away but it had a few showstoppers. Fall 2012 RTW Givenchy   Image Credit :...

Fall 2012 RTW : Balmain

Rousteing has made Balmain luxe again.  Such beautiful and exquiste handwork and embroidery. Some of the pieces were very editorial but on the whole this collection was great and a definite improvement over Fall 2011. I loved the second look. With all the detailing, the roses gave it such a nice touch. The collection feels very architectural. The boxy and strong shoulder look of Balmin is recycled but is still present. The velvet pants mixed with the heavy work looked very rich. I like some of the quilted jackets as well. Fall 2012 RTW  Balmain       Image Credit : Style.com | Entire...

Fall 2012 RTW : Louis Vuitton

Marc Jacobs added his vision of extraordinary details and huge hats to the Louis Vuitton collection as well. Some of the techniques used can only be marvelled at. I don’t see many people wearing the entire look but many of them did have beautifully embroidered details like leather patchwork, prints etc. What drew me to this collection was the optical disc/kaleidoscope patterns on thick fabric. It wowed me. As I read one person say, many of the coats were very ‘Downtown Abbey’-ish. I certainly felt that way with the opening piece. But as the show progressed, there was more to the collection. I liked the red and silver metallic dress and the black and blue ones. Overall, I...

Fall 2012 RTW : Elie Saab

Season after season, Elie Saab’ s collection look the same from afar. But the beauty lies in details. The wearable formal pieces came as a nice surprise. The oversize coats and blouses weren’t a part of the collection but instead they were beautifully cut skirts and trenches that enhance or give the illusion of curves. As seen in the first picture, the black on the sides gives a slimming effect and reflects a very modern view. There was a lot of variety, with prints as well, my favourite being the taupe and black dress. Fitted tops and flowly light skirts, its a feminine style I quite like. Evening wear ofcourse, is always what I look forward too. Pieces in almost bottle green,...
