Love these collections from Balenciaga and Ann Demeulemeester. Manish Arora’s will have in a tizzy! All from Paris Fashion Week.
It feels like it’s by Alexander Wang and the colour (which rejuvenated his own show) makes this very appealing. I like the zippers going down the sleeves and the the crosses. The structure feels very macho but the colours give it a young feel.
You’ve just stepped into a fun candy...
There are some very thoughtful collections like Gareth Pugh and Vionnet. The more relatable but still fashionable Dries Van Noten; all fall collections from Paris Fashion Week.
Dries Van Noten
It’s urban chic with the retro silhouettes in geometric lines and bold colours. The outerwear and coats are to die for. The floral separates are my favourites...
Paris Fashion Week fall collections get a start here with Cédric Charlier, Guy Laroche and Bouchra Jarrar!
Reptiles recreated using textiles (bad rhyming) and pleating, that’s the inspiration. It’s done quite well too, it’s not out there snakeskin but subtle. I think the overall vibe of a snake is captured very well. But I’m not a fan of the cut-out fur.
Guy Laroche was...
Spring 2014 Couture shows have their last stop here! Blown away by Zuhair Murad’s collection. Viktor & Rolf had a ballet inspiration while Valentino was musical and operatic.
The inspiration is very loud and vivid with music and wildlife. I love the burgundy dress with the snake motif running across. The slate grey plane gown was also very elegant, as were the gowns with floral applique and...
Hey guys! I’m in Goa at the moment so the posts till Monday will be scheduled! It’s going to be a very relaxing weekend. Hope you all have a great time as well! ^_^
Spring 2014 Couture shows continue here! I’m always blown away my Elie Saab and Armani Prive collections, they always have that glamour quotient when I enjoy looking at.
The indigo and midnight blues are here to stay. The head scarf lives the collection a very easy and resort feel. The palazzo pants with slits and the jackets in this collection are superb. We then get glimmering lacey gowns which are so layered it gives a very dimensional look. I also like the taupe gowns at the end, it...
Hey guys! Hope you are all having an amazing weekend!
Here’s more from the Spring 2014 Couture shows with collections from Ulyana Sergeenko, Bouchra Jarrar and Vionnet.
The collection feels very cinematic and powerful. It’s the silhouettes with the right balance of structure and draping. It’s also inspired by Central Asia and carries motifs and symbols from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the region. I love the suits and the powder blue dress. Sergeenko’s collections are always a nod to her Russian heritage, but it’s nice to see her venture out for...
The spring couture shows at Paris continued with exceptional collections from Giambattista Valli with his floral magnificence, Alexis Mabille with the artful elegance and Chanel with the icy and young collection.
They are stellar and very red carpet worthy!
It’s a collection that any girl would dream off but rather than going the pastel route, Valli used striking contrasts that made the collection bold. I love the draping in the bow shape, almost a peplum but not quite, it looked very elegant. The appliques are placed perfectly really make a statement. I loved the gown with blue applique and coral tulle. The shorter mint dress with leaves and a bejeweled collar is...
I’m back from Jaipur! JLF was really good this time, discovered so many new authors like Philip Hensher, Jim Crace, Jonathan Franzen etc. Also loved the sessions with Gloria Steinem and Amartya Sen.
But anyway, I was so pumped about next month because of fashion week that it sort of slipped my mind that the Spring Couture shows take place right now! This actually happens every year, but I just caught it in time this year!
The inspiration for this collection was the iconic Grace Kelly in that classic hood giving an overall innocence. Donatella’s couture collection drew from that and ventured out into a distinct Versace mode. There was structure and showing off the...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu
You always expect drama and edge with a McQueen collection and it was delivered.
The mood was celebratory even though the colour palette wasn’t. The detailing with the beading, embroidery and is...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chanel, Giambattista Valli and Valentino
I like seeing Chanel in pink. The sheer brightness of it was surprising but the less loud shades like purples and berry toned pinks looked really good. I love the pearl accessories in this collection. The array of colours really reminded me of the Alberta Ferretti collection but looked really vibrant. That swimsuit is killer.
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Stella McCartney, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent
I love the sheer skirts and lace dresses in this collection. It’s definitely not out of place with this seasons trends and feels very well put together. I also love the muted pink suit, it looks very chic and dainty.
Every season Elie Saab’s collection is what I’m dying to see. Yes,...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Chloé, John Galliano and Givenchy
The show had a very earthly vibe with the colours and the simple plain silhouettes. But it was desert chic in a way which I quite liked.
I love the colour palette in this collection. The perforated designs and floral cut outs give a very sleek and feminine look. But the gowns are really...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Kenzo, Céline and Lanvin
The team at Kenzo had a strong message to show. To stop endangered fish from being hunted. The references were subtle in the fish silhouette prints until the t-shirt with the words came out, making sure the message didn’t go unheard. It’s always interesting to see designers take important issues and play it out on the runway.
The brushstrokes made the collection perfect for the...
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme Des Garçons and Maxime Simoëns
Jean Paul Gaultier
The collection was an ode to the power combination of music and fashion. References to Grease, Madonna and even Amy Winehouse could not have been more obvious. That said, the leather separates made a big impact as did the off shoulder ruffled dresses.
Comme Des Garçons
Spring 2014 RTW at Paris Fashion Week : Yohji Yamamoto, Cacharel and Haider Ackermann
The collection had a lot of depth in terms of the variety. The peek-a-boo blazers felt very fresh. The fluorescent hues were like a breath of fresh in what would have otherwise been a bland runway show. The camo print and layers gave the pieces a very wearable feel.
Cacharel’s collection looks excellent! I love...
