Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Prabal Gurung, Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne

Fall 2014 RTW : Prabal Gurung, Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne

More fall collections at New York Fashion Week. Prabal Gurung's collection is stellar but Jill Stuart and Jenni Kayne also made their mark.   Prabal Gurung Like most designers, Parabal Gurung takes inspiration from his travels. This time it's Nepal and the kingdom of Mustang. You can see the reference in the heavy layering that distinct shade of red. It's dark but not vampy, it has that recognizable Himalayan feel to it. The collection is quite top heavy with jumpers, cardigans, turtlenecks all layered but only flowing chiffon skirts at the bottom. There's…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Ruffian, Cushnie et Ochs and Prabal Gurung

Spring 2014 RTW at new York Fashion Week : Ruffian, Cushnie et Ochs and Prabal Gurung It's a long weekend for me, I'm hopigh to get more of these posts done today. Ruffian ,Ruffian still catered to it's more mature audience with satin pastel suits and florals to go with it. Combining houndstooth, leather and floral a completely different look though. I love the floral grey suit though.     Cushnie et Ochs Cushnie et Ochs always have an interesting way of deconstructing clothes and putting them together in an amazing way. This…Read more

Fall 2013 RTW : Prabal Gurung, Behnaz Sarafpour and Jill Stuart

Another trio from New York Fashion Week. Behnaz Sarafpour shined against the great collections of Prabal Gurung and Jill Stuart. Prabal Gurung Prabal Gurung's collection has a militaristic edge to it. Inspired my the empowered women in the tribal Balkans. The olive peplum with the body belt and black fur makes it a formidable and modern look at the same time. The design in the pieces is immaculate. The collection turns for feminine towards the end but still maintains the strong front the collection has.   Behnaz Sarafpour The outfits in this collection…Read more

Spring 2013 RTW : Prabal Gurung

Prabal Gurung's collection starts off with a stark contrast. And then you see the sheer and grey transcending into colour. The wing motif is used in a lot of the clothing. Asymmetric hemlines are seen a lot in this collection. With draping and ruffles, it takes various forms. The straight trousers with print look great. The red and grey metallic shorts are quite a sight very grungy. I like the periwinkle dress with sheer layer and the sheer white top with the wing in the front. The metallic blue dress has a nice…Read more
