Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque

It’s not often I get to review a hair mask. Mostly because it takes me so long to use one up! I’m very irregular with my use of hair masks which amount to 2-3 times a month! But lo and behold, I have for you today, Macadamia Deep Repair Masque! I bought this long time ago from FeelUnique. As a rule, I only buy from there when there’s a good discount and it was one such occasion. I’ve previously used the Moroccan Oil Hair Restorative Mask, so you’ll see a bit of comparison as well. If you don’t know, this hair mask is basically a deep conditioner, or a more intense and potent version of your regular conditioner meant to induce moisture in your hair and...

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon

Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I stuffed myself with mangoes, one of the finer things to enjoy in summer! One thing Sephora does well are the Beauty Insider points and rewards! That’s how I managed to get my hands on the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon. It’s basically a liquid lipstick or lip cream which dries to a matte finish. I have to say, overall, I do like the product and I’d probably buy another shade too but this takes a bit of effort to get it right. Hence, this won’t be getting a full rating from me. Anyway, the shade Icon is a deep blue toned red. If you apply just one coat it will be quite bright. The colour intensifies and deepens when...

Bourjois Cream Blush in Healthy Glow

Bourjois Cream Blush in Healthy Glow

This is such a cute product! It’s the famous little round pot but now it houses a cream blush! Bourjois launched four shades in their Cream Blush range. I’m reviewing the shade 02 Healthy Glow. It’s a light peachy apricot colour. It tends to look a little bit more peachy pink on the skin and there’s also very subtle gold shimmer running through it. I find that the shimmer is more apparent in heavy swatches but not so much after your blend it. The colour is something that will suit both cool and warm skintones but might not show up as easily on deeper ones. But it gives a really nice peachy colour which looks very natural. It’s also a sheer blush which makes...

BareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 in The 15 Minutes

BareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 in The 15 Minutes

Every month I rotate makeup in my “daily use” section so I actually end up using the lot. Last month I got a lot of wear from this neglected eyeshadow duo. BareMinerals eyeshadows, particularly the READY range are raved about everywhere. So, when there was a nifty discount on FeelUnique, I grabbed this. The BareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 in The 15 Minutes is a two eyeshadow palette with the shades Page Six and Most Requested. Page Six is a warm baby pink with fine gold shimmer. It’s pigmented but not as much as Most Requested. In comparison, it feels just a tiny bit chalky, it’s not as buttery smooth as the other one. This definitely looks like a frost...

Max Factor Mini Effect Nail Polish in Fantasy Fire

Max Factor Mini Effect Nail Polish in Fantasy Fire

Today I’m bringing you yet another nail polish that is utterly gorgeous. But not the best buy for the price though. I saw it for the first time on this blog and I just had to have it! It’s part of the Mini Nail Polish line which are these tiny cute polish bottles. I lot of them are gorgeous complex shades including shimmers and duochromes. Anyway, I’ll get down to business. Fantasy Fire is a layering sheer polish with a MAJOR duochrome shift. It’s a blue-indigo base with shimmer that shifts from orange to green. It’s quite thin and not really meant to be worn on its own. It’ll take way too many coats to get it opaque and with such a tiny bottle (and...

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

The marketing behind this product is so intriguing with the world “miracle” and “recovery” thrown around a lot. It’s sets up high expectations! Around last year, I was looking for a face oil to incorporate in my skincare routine. I tried the Nuxe multi-use oil but it broke me out on my face. I just use it for my hair and other dry patches now. I decided to give Kiehl’s a try for the first time! Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate is a face serum or facial oil (whichever term you prefer) which claims to give you smooth, supple hydrated skin overnight. On that claim, it does come through but it won’t magically get rid of every spot or blemish...

Book Review : The Northern Clemency by Philip Hensher

Book Review : The Northern Clemency by Philip Hensher

I was lucky enough to sit for one of Philip Hensher’s sessions at JLF otherwise I would have completely missed out on this writing. It’s full of flavour, details and you really feel part of the story. Review The Northern Clemency chronicles the lives of a few families in a Sheffield neighbourhood through 20 years. It’s a testament to just how much economic, cultural changes bring about startling changes of it’s own within a community. There’s initially a lot of mystery about the Grover family which resolves quickly and it’s really the people involved and their reactions that sucks you in. In a way, it you can get a real sense of the cultural societal...

L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Gloss in Lolita

L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Gloss in Lolita

Hey guys! Here’s a nice nude lip gloss! I got swept up in the hype of this being a YSL Glossy Stain dupe and promptly picked it up from Myntra.com! The L’oreal Shine Caresse Lip Gloss range is more like lip stains with a glossy finish. The shade Lolita is dusty mauvy pink. How this looks on your lips can change a bit because it’s sheer and your lip colour does show through. It looks more cool toned in the tube but it’s a very warm pink which is even better for Indian skintones. For me, it gives a sheer wash of colour and appears as a warm pink, very close MLBB shade. I also detected very subtle gold shimmer but it’s very fine. This particular shade is sheer...

L’occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm

L’occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm

From the vast sea of lip balms one has, sometimes you just need heavy duty stuff. That’s exactly what the L’occitane Shea Butter Lip Balm is for me. I have dry lips in general, even more so the winter and with sun exposure they sometimes also get very irritated along the edges. This lip balm works well to combat that keep them really well moisturised. This suits my skin type/condition really well but it is a very very thick consistency. But it’s also very soft, you have to be careful while applying, too much pressure and you might break the stick. It feels very soft on the lips but looks a bit waxy and more matte than shiny. You do get that heavy creamy feeling on the lips...

Nars Blush in Taj Mahal

Nars Blush in Taj Mahal

You know I have a soft spot for Nars blushes, but this one is actually my least used blush. I bought this when, like everyone else, I was having an orange phase. This seemed like the perfect blush for it. Nars Blush in Taj Mahal is a powder blush in orange with gold shimmer. When you blend it, you can really spot a nice gold sheen across it. It’s more of a yellowy-orange than a reddish one. I do really like the colour, it can seem too much for a neutral everyday look but if you apply a sheer layer, it can look great! It really warms your complexion. This is so so pigmented, it’s difficult to use. I mean that says more about me, rather than being the fault of a product. In...

Soap & Glory The Righteous Body Butter

Soap & Glory The Righteous Body Butter

Here’s a skincare review for you! Sephora India is here and one of the benefits is Soap & Glory. Of course, I’m not in Delhi and I haven’t visited Sephora there yet, but get my drift… Soap & Glory is a brand of good products and witty retro names! I picked up The Righteous Body Butter from MedPlusBeauty when it was available there. This is very very thick cream. In comparison to the Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture or The Body Shop Body Butters, this feels more potent. Warning, this is a product meant for very dry skin. For those of you who have oily skin, while it’s hydrating this might feel too greasy for you unless you plan on using this only at...

Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Orange Ovation Spotlight Coral

Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Orange Ovation Spotlight Coral

This is an oldie I once picked up at an airport. The Dior Addict High Shine range (not to be confused with Dior Addict) is discontinued but I thought I’d review it anyway, it’s still available on certain websites. I suppose it’s meant to be more glossy than the Addict range but I didn’t really find that much of a difference compared to Backstage. Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Orange Ovation/ Spotlight Coral is a peachy pink, leaning more towards the orange side with a bit of gold shimmer added to it. It’s a really nice warm colour which will suit most skintones. It’s a sheer lipstick and has a bit of a balm like texture. Very similar to the new...

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo

I’ve said this before, it’s a galaxy in a bottle. I first came across this nail polish on Karen’s blog and I was blown away. I knew I had to have it. I scoured the net for it and finally managed to pick it up when I was abroad. I was a bit concerned because it costs 27 freaking dollars and I don’t rate other Chanel nail polishes that highly. The cream formulas in general just seem very streaky. But luckily, this one turned out to be quite good. I’m not sure what collection this is a part of but Taboo is a shimmer polish in a darkened purple base. Suspended in that you have bright blue, bronze and red violet shimmer. I think it looks a lot more red based in the...

Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Coral Crush

Hey guys! I had a very hectic week and now I’m just looking forward to relaxing and blogging this weekend! Also, Happy Women’s Day! At the very least we get to enjoy sales on this Saturday. I did a tiny bit of shopping on FeelUnique since they’re having 15% discount store wide! ^_^ Rimmel have  a nice range of moderately priced nail polishes. This one is from the 60 Seconds line and called Coral Crush. It’s a really nice colour for summer! As the name suggests, Coral Crush is a mix of pink and orange, a good coral shade. It feels slightly duochrome as it shifts between a few shades of orange and pink depending on the lighting. It’s also a bit pearlescent which...

Formula X for Sephora Nail Polish in Standout

Hey guys! This week is just not ending! I want Saturday to be here already! Here is another pretty nail polish with a less an impressive formula. It’s another one of the Formula X for Sephora ones. Standout is from the New Neutrals range and is a creamy and pearlescent finish. Standout is a lovely light nude shade. I wouldn’t call this a baby pink, but it is a very pale warm pink. It’s the perfect manicure colour! I’m surprised I don’t have anything like, its a very dupeable shade. It’s a cream polish but it has white pearlescent bits in it as well. It’s very noticeable in the bottle but doesn’t really show up on the nail. It’s creamy...
