Many of the resort collections seem like an extension of spring and not all together different. Here, I’ll be reviewing collections by Oscar de la Renta, Just Cavalli and Moschino Cheap and Chic.
Oscar de la Renta
Appliques, florals, volume; Oscar de la Renta’s resort collection had all that and then some. The asymmetrical peplum is one distinct piece here and while difficult to pull off, it has certain appeal to it. The chartruese kimono style top and blue mermaid skirt seems a bit much but individually I think they are really great pieces. The floral bodice with a bubble peplum and sleek black gown is one of my favourites in this colection. The collection has a very garden...
Resort 2014 collections are trickling in very slowly and I just can’t find them all in one place. I don’t know why some of the sites are holding back on publishing them. Oh well, I have 3 collections to review here – Christian Dior by Raf Simmons, Versus Versace by J.W. Anderson and Etro! Let’s begin!
Showcased in Monaco, Dior’s collection had that air of elegance and a grandiose location to present it. Placed in a yacht, it was quite the obvious choice for a resort collection. The looks have that flair for luxe silhouettes but shaking it up with modern prints and styles. The opening dress it itself lays down the rule for the rest to follow....
Resort 2014 is here! I’m preparing for my next big vacation in June and I’ll be travelling a lot. It puts me in the right mood to review resort collections! Granted, I’m travelling to cold countries in Scandanavia, the beachy resort collections are still a treat to view!
Chanel’s resort collection as always, took place in another exotic place; this time Singapore. While some silhouettes borrowed from the traditional Singaporean dress, Lagerfeld interprets it in the classic Chanel-esque manner. If you love pearls, clean exhuberance, you’ll love this collection.
I loved the strands of pearls and pearl buttons incorporated in the outfits. The oversize...
The final day of Lakme Fashion Week and this post is long overdue. Unfortunately, I was really ill almost the entire week and didn’t manage to do much on my blog. But I really missed it and I’m back with a bang!
With a stunning finale from Namrata Joshipura and collections from Archana Kochhar and Shantanu & Nikhil.
Archana Kochhar’s collection has a good urban vibe about it. I like the monochrome prints with the neon colours in sheer breezy silhouettes. Definitely feels very spring/summer. I love the bright fuschia dress the neon saree as...
The final day, day 5 of Lakme fashion Week was held a lot of anticipation. People were really synced to see Namrata Joshipura’s collection but till then, collections from Kaabia & Sasha, Nitya and Vijay Balhara proved to be great as well.
Kaabia & Sasha
The jewellery in this collection had a tribal vibe to it. But all the statement pieces were so gorgeous. My favourites were actually the rings. Enormous and never seen anything like them before.
This collection featured fun summer separates...
Day 4 at Lakme Fashion Week begin with a bang with gorgeous collections from Purvi Doshi, Soumitra Mondal and Vaishali S.
Purvi Doshi’s collection kept the oufit’s simple and comfortable for summers. But the added charm was the not too overpowering colourful embroidery. Everyone own’s something vintage in this style but to see it applied to a new silhouette is amazing. All the dresses have a nice casual ease to them.
Soumitra Mondal’s collection was a treat for women who love pink! The patterns were delicate and the sarees were more traditional but it made a nice change. I do...
Just one more day of Lakme Fashion Week left! On day 4, however, collections from Agnimitra Paul, Farah and Firdos and Vikram Phadnis made a lasting impression.
Agnimitra Paul had a collection with a pretty vine and leaf print mashed up in multiple colours. The collection had simpler pieces sa well like the opening black dress with pink lining and an embroidered top. An anarkali with a green hoodie was the best piece.
Farah and Firdos
Farah and Firdos presented a collection with mainly statement pieces. Those ranged from a velvet organza dress with a heavy border on the bottom, to a simpler sheer bloused saree...
Day 4 at Lakme Fashion Week continued with collections from Gaurav Jai Gupta, Daniel and Gaurang.
Gaurav Jai Gupta
Gaurav Jai Gupta’s collection endeared to the folks to prefer spring with muted tones. The mix of patterns in complementary hades and comfortable silhouettes made this collection very understated. This collection may not scream the loudest but it has a definite charm to it.
Daniel’s collection seemed very austere and simplistic in comparison to the flair of...
As day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week came to a close, collections from Shikha & Vinita, Munkee.See.Munkee.Soo and Rimi Nayak! I think day 3 had some really diverse and quirky collections.
Shikha & Vinita
I love the colour palette of the Shikha & Vinita collection. Whenever you say spring, you have an abundance of pastels, neons and warm colours. It was nice to see periwinkle blue, more tonal greens and white in the mix. It looked very calming! This collection features some really amazing design elements and applique as well! I love the sheer white skirt with the blue collar and button line. The draped sideways peplum like skirt in that blue looks gorgeous. Overall, this collection was...
Day 3 at Lakme Fashion Week continued with collections from Sounia Gohil, Bhairavi Jaikishan and Rajat K Tangri.
Sounia Gohil’s collection had quite a few hits and misses. I love the ombre sort of watercolour effect. The oddly placed patterns don’t work for some of the dresses though. And a black legging for the finale was just too old. The silhouettes in this collection are really good and universally flattering, I wish the focus was more on that.
There were a lot of glamorous collections on day 2 of Lakme Fashion Week. I’ll be reviewing collections from Komal Sood, Shehlaa and Rocky Star.
Komal Sood’s collection was quite blingy with the sequined dresses and separates. But I liked the softer pieces like the grey and pink satin draped dress. The finale iridescent gown has a lovely mother of pearl type effect.
This collection was very romantic and a bit of a boudoir vibe. I really didn’t like the hair and styling for...
Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 was extraordinary with stunning collections from Aarti Vijay Gupta, Nikhil Thampi and Nupur Kanoi.
Aarti Vijay Gupta
This was a um.. very geographical collection. Very quirky, I loved it! Using collage of stamps and maps of India it was a very nostalgic collection. Any fashion foward geography teachers who might perhaps want to don the map trousers?
I like the cleanness of Nikhil Thampi’s collection. The sheer layers draped over look very elegant. I love...
Day 3 of Lakme Fashion Week saw collections from Sailex, Krishna Mehta and Swapnil Shinde.
The Sailex collection is very modern and chic. The tones are muted and soft, the overall look, very feminine. I love the satin full buttoned dress with embroidery and a collar. The brown sequined sheer stripped dress is also stunning.
Day 1 at Lakme Fashion Week concluded with amazing collections from Masaba, Shivan & Narresh and Manish Malhotra!
Masaba’s collection was very chic. I loved the dhoti style skirt and the bold print. The fit and flare dress with the neon yellow embroidery is gorgeous! I also love the sheer blouse with the “fitted” saree.
Shivan & Narresh
I absolutely adore this collection. Every piece flows into the next so well. My favourites is the coral polka dotted top with the high-waisted...
After a smashing Will’s Lifestyle India fashion Week, it’s time to turn our heads to Mumbai for Lakme Fashion Week! Showcasing Summer/Resort RTW, there are dozens of designers and Naeem Khan will be showing as well!! That’s rather exciting, but it will be the the fall collection he showed last month.
So, starting off with Day 1, are rather eclectic collections from Tarun Tahiliani, Asmita Marwa and Debahrun!
Tarun Tahiliani’s collection was just sublime. The clothes looked something a demur desert princess would wear. The palette is very earthy but when you seen the watercolour like flowy clothes, it just transports you to your dream destination. I...
