Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part One

So New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 RTW is almost at the end there have been some really great shows so far. I really liked Escada and the bright colours and prints used. Halston Heritage has such a sleek and modern collection. I love the silhouettes. There's always something to look forward to at a Monique Lhuillier show and the pastel lace gown is just incredible. I could just watch those gowns all day and feel at peace. BCBG Maz Azria has a bit of  a shabby chic thing going on but I…Read more
Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 4 & 5

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 4 & 5

The final installment of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. You can view the previous posts here and here. The final two days were packed with glamorous collections and exquisite work on show from Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Anushree Reddy and JADE by Monica & Karishma. Some were more contemporary like Ridhi Mehra, Payal Singhal which I really liked. I also loved Anushree Reddy's collection with florals and sheer fabrics with beadwork. It has a very delicate look.   Manish Malhotra   Shantanu & Nikhil   Shehla Khan   JADE by Monica & Karishma…Read more

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Day 2 & Day 3

Hello here! So happy it's a holiday today! 3-day weekends should be a permanent thing! Anyway, here's part 2 of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 collections. It's pick of some of my favourite ones from Day 2 and 3. There was a lot of festive wear as well.  Most notable for me were Anita Dongre, Divya Seth and probably Soumitra Mondal.   Anita Dongre Day 2 ended with the Anita Dongre show which was so stunning, I really like it when work is intricate and not too heavy, this was perfect. I also…Read more
Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Preview & Day 1

Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 : Preview & Day 1

Lakme Fashion week is(was) here! It’s a nice precursor to the main big 4 fashion weeks next month. In this post I’ll be covering some of the collections that I liked from the preview and Day 1. I’m so glad that this time round they also had four Pakistani designers! Zara Shahjahan designs such beautiful romantic pieces.     Amit Aggarwal Amit Aggarwal’s collection was instantly recognizable with his futuristic touch. Not sure why people kept labeling it as tribal, but for me it had that insect inspiration. The volume and sheen of the…Read more
Resort 2015 : Part Two

Resort 2015 : Part Two

The resort collections are pouring in! Here are a few more edited down versions of the collections themselves. You can view the previous post on Resort 2015 here. Missoni It's more than your average "active wear" collection. The Missoni print definitely enhances the appeal. With light knits and lurex, the collection features more comfortable clothing in bright pastel shades. One of the later looks with the indigo blue gown is stunning; perfection in simplicity. I also really like the colourful leopard print. DKNY Preppy and functional. A large portion of this vast collection…Read more

Resort 2015 : Part One

The Resort 2015 collections are starting to trickle in, with the destination cruise collections like Chanel, Louis Vuitton releasing ahead of time. I'm following a new format for my runway fashion posts where I club 10-12 collections in one post. It will be image heavy! If you're looking for specific designers, try the tags. We start off with Dior!   Dior Set upon a cruise over the Hudson river, the collection felt very Dior-esque with its large but soft prints. The minimalism and cuts gave it more edge. I really love the sharp…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Balenciaga, Manish Arora and Ann Demeulemeester

Fall 2014 RTW : Balenciaga, Manish Arora and Ann Demeulemeester

Love these collections from Balenciaga and Ann Demeulemeester. Manish Arora's will have in a tizzy! All from Paris Fashion Week.     Balenciaga It feels like it's by Alexander Wang and the colour (which rejuvenated his own show) makes this very appealing. I like the zippers going down the sleeves and the the crosses. The structure feels very macho but the colours give it a young feel. Manish Arora You've just stepped into a fun candy shop. You get a sugar rush just looking at it! Aside from the makeup and accessories, what…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Dries Van Noten, Gareth Pugh and Vionnet

Fall 2014 RTW : Dries Van Noten, Gareth Pugh and Vionnet

There are some very thoughtful collections like Gareth Pugh and Vionnet. The more relatable but still fashionable Dries Van Noten; all fall collections from Paris Fashion Week.     Dries Van Noten It's urban chic with the retro silhouettes in geometric lines and bold colours. The outerwear and coats are to die for. The floral separates are my favourites here.   Gareth Pugh The shock and awe factor aside, you can always rely on Gareth Pugh to take you to another world. Imagine Frozen set in a future, the dystopian attire and the…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Cédric Charlier, Guy Laroche and Bouchra Jarrar

Fall 2014 RTW : Cédric Charlier, Guy Laroche and Bouchra Jarrar

Paris Fashion Week fall collections get a start here with Cédric Charlier, Guy Laroche and Bouchra Jarrar!   Cédric Charlier Reptiles recreated using textiles (bad rhyming) and pleating, that's the inspiration. It's done quite well too, it's not out there snakeskin but subtle. I think the overall vibe of a snake is captured very well. But I'm not a fan of the cut-out fur. Guy Laroche Guy Laroche was never on my radar until that Hilary Swank navy gown popped up. I hope for that kind of brilliance every year, it's not something we…Read more
