Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Spring 2015 RTW : New York Fashion Week : Part Two

Hello people! here's the second installment of Spring 2015 RTW New York Fashion Week! You can catch up with part one here.   I'll come out and say it, I'm not the biggest fan of the active wear Alexander Wang aesthetic. I don't necessarily get it. But I do recognize certain collections, like last season's that was spectacular. This one in comparison is a bit uninspiring and feels too literal. The canvas shoe dresses and heavy beaded tops look great on first glance but not very wearable. I do however, like the crop…Read more

Resort 2015 : Part One

The Resort 2015 collections are starting to trickle in, with the destination cruise collections like Chanel, Louis Vuitton releasing ahead of time. I'm following a new format for my runway fashion posts where I club 10-12 collections in one post. It will be image heavy! If you're looking for specific designers, try the tags. We start off with Dior!   Dior Set upon a cruise over the Hudson river, the collection felt very Dior-esque with its large but soft prints. The minimalism and cuts gave it more edge. I really love the sharp…Read more
Fall 2014 RTW : Yigal Azrouël, Lela Rose and Derek Lam

Fall 2014 RTW : Yigal Azrouël, Lela Rose and Derek Lam

Amazing fall collections from Yigal Azrouël, Lela Rose and Derek Lam at New York Fashion Week. You can see more collections here.   Yigal Azrouël The genius is in the details. I love the zipper details on the sleeves. The pieces look so classic and yet there is that mix of textures and zipper carefully placed that update the look. I like the leather dress with seams running across. The biker style jacket with knit sleeves is another favorite. Overall, it's a very urban collection.     Lela Rose Lela Rose always conjures a…Read more

Spring 2014 RTW : Yigal Azrouel, Derek Lam and DKNY

Spring 2014 RTW at New York Fashion Week : Yigal Azrouel, Derek Lam and DKNY We have slightly more relaxed and edgy collections from Yigal Azrouel and Derek Lam while DKNY has a Sex and the City moment.   Yigal Azrouel This collection just can't be faulted for its aesthetics. It has that ease of looking sophisticated which designers dream of. There is that crispness in the tailoring and yet the perforated material and perfect body hugging fit that makes it sensual. The dresses in this collection are very modern and wearable. Derek…Read more

Fall 2013 RTW : Yigal Azrouël, Cushnie et Ochs and Rebecca Minkoff

This trio of reviews contains one of the most watched brands. They are new but highly successful with their own unique signature. Yigal Azrouël and Cushnie et Ochs in particular interest me. Yigal Azrouël After a brilliant and intricate resort collection, it's back to the much desired structure and mis of materials that Yigal offers. The clothes are very edgy and strong but some are simple and quite feminine. The simple spotted dress with light draping around the waist is gorgeous. The mix of leather and wool with zippers as accents completes it.…Read more

Spring 2013 RTW : Yigal Azrouel

Yigal Azrouel's collection is very editorial this season. Inspired by landscapes and nature, you do seem it when you look deeper. The stripes on the knits, the cuts and contrast in the clothes, they all come together. The hood's have a very nun look to them rather than sporty. Having said that, the collection does have an athletic feel to it with its black, white , navy blue and khaki palette. One of my favourite looks was the grey knit top with the flared skirt. It's so simple and yet it looks very…Read more

Resort 2013 : Yigal Azrouel

Yigal Azrouel's inspiration for this resort collection is Tokyo and you certainly get a feel of that with the bright colours and patterns. I like hoe intricate the designs are. The first blue dress is stunning. Too much symmetry and graphic designs are a bit off putting for me. These have the perfect balance between the two. I like the green skater dress with the patterned trims. There are a lot of unique designs and techniques applied here. The black and yellow patterned trousers look so fierce. I think with the jacket it…Read more
